Lost my 33 yr old most physical fit husband 1 year ago, I miss him and his help! Feels so shitty and unfair. My baby getting better is the only thing that would bring my sanity back.
Any nexium users in AM & PM?
My son is on 20 mg Nexium in the a.m. and is pretty good through day. I find around dinner time that the meds have worn off, he needs something in the evening as well. We have tried everything else and found nothing else that made any difference (other than the nexium) GI said nexium is best in the a.m. because of something to do with pumps? We originally were on 10mg in morning and evening..for super short period, two weeks maybe? I think he needs a dose in the evening as well too. So nexium I think normally takes awhile to kick in (one month?).. so then would I have to wait that long to see as well for evening dose you think? Or because we are already on, that I should notice much sooner? My son who is silent refluxer has always needed food/drink when refluxing (which I know some people who thinks it makes it worse.. but for him - it relieves him - that I do know). Does it make a difference for your silent refluxer if they haven't eaten after a certain time before bed? It hasn't for us :( Just wanting more tips and suggestions.. though most we have and are probably already doing.. sigh. Shanks

Maggie is now 3 years old and reflux free (knock on wood). I still check in some to see how everybody is doing :) Hugs to all!
I've read many times that a dose split between am and pm works better bc little ones metabolize meds faster than adults. I'm not a dr but I don't see why splitting the dose would hurt for a trial period. Don't increase the dose without asking but I think as long as you keep the dose the same, it should be ok to try.

Jessica, Mommy to Jedd, severe reflux, severe food and oral aversions, Finally G tube free!!! VSD repair 4-24-07 (open heart surgery), hypospadias, repaired 3 times and Ear tubes Visit Jedd at his CB site: www.caringbridge.org/visit/jedd
I know kids who take that full dose twice a day. When Jedd was taking his PPI twice a day I used to go in around 11:00 at night and give it to him so that he would be empty so it was work more effectively on him. He got his a.m. dose at 7:00. I would think that since the med is already in his blood stream that you should see the affects faster.

maia m - GERD. Nissen Fundoplication w/hiatal hernia repair.
Mom to
Son (10) GERD(aspiration pneumonias, apnea, tracheomalacia), Food allergy, Asthma
Daughter (6) GERD, Heart Murmur, Food Allergy, Asthma, Mold allergy
My 5 year old daughter takes 20 Nexium in a.m. and 20 Nexium in pm. My 9 year old son takes 40 Nexium in am and 40 Nexium in pm. (Just saying yes, it can be twice a day - not that you want that high a dose. My kids have *severe* reflux and have had tons of testing done to rule out other conditions.

Per their doctor, Nexium is best 30-60 min before dinner/supper, so it will work through the night when most kids have issues. Guess it depends on who you ask. :)

This is our dd, Alessandra. Dx with GER 10/07. Ran the gamut with meds and now done with them (crossed fingers). Using magnesium, probiotics and prebiotic supplements. With the exception of teething and general sassy attitude, all is well now. They really CAN grow out of it!
We always had more luck with the PPI in the evening and the H2 blocker in the morning. The evenings always seemed worse.
