Kody updateHi everyone! I was just on here about swallowing issues and my son Kody crying for like 3 days. He had the worse day and evening last night so I thought for sure he did have an ear infection or something. Brought him in this morning and no infections. I had a total meltdown this morning at home just hysterically crying from exhaustion. Then I had to see a different doc because ours was out and I started crying to her. Poor doctor she had just met me and didn't know what she was getting into when we walked through that door. lol Well she took her time with us and she said that she wanted us to have his stool tested for blood. Which I thought was already done so I was confused why it hadn't. She also is ordering us an upper gi. She didn't really do anything to help us right this moment but I feel like something is being done to figure it out rather than suffering until we go to the GI appt. It was good seeing a different doctor to get some new ideas and perspective. Maybe something will help me figure the mystery out with him. He got home from the doctor and finally slept and slept and slept. Poor guy was so exhausted from yesterday so I hope that he sleeps a little tonight. I'm crossing my fingers and going to bed soon myself to get some much needed rest. Thanks everyone for the support and help. I probably would never have thought to bring him to the doctor but I'm so glad that I was given that suggestion. We get so used to suffering through this and it always helps to get some new perspectives from all of you. Much appreciated. How long does it take the prevacid to kick in? We aren't seeing good results so afraid it was mistake switching over from prevacid. He's been on it for about 2 weeks.

This is our dd, Alessandra. Dx with GER 10/07. Ran the gamut with meds and now done with them (crossed fingers). Using magnesium, probiotics and prebiotic supplements. With the exception of teething and general sassy attitude, all is well now. They really CAN grow out of it!
|Hugs, mama. It took about 6 weeks to fully kick in for us. We saw some improvement along the way, but it took nearly 2 months before I had a different kid. Glad the MD's getting something done for you. I've only gotten 30 min of sleep so far (it's 5:45 am BTW) so I'm going to go try to snooze now. |

Julie - I have three children. My youngest Katie is my refluxer. My first Ben was very colicy and is ADHD. My middle Jakob is pretty easy going. Katie had it bad as a baby no sleep for two years. She was on Nutramagin, Prevacid and Zantac. Thought we were through it but after age three it came back big time. After her scope she was put on Prevacid 45mg a day and mylanta as needed. Scope was in Sept. Showed damage in stomach and espophogus. It took about 7 months of medication and Reflux diet for her to start feeling better.
|Glad your ped. is having some testing done until you make it to the GI. I had a three month wait to see the GI so I was a basket case. My ped. did evey test that she could to calm my fears. The blood test helped a lot because it ruled out some things and made me feel calmer. |
So happy that you are feeling like you are moving in the right direction.
The prevacid does take a little time. Try mylanta until it starts working. ((HUGS))
