Upper GI series
My almost 5 month old has an upper GI series scheduled this Thursday morning. He is an exclusively breastfed baby. He completely refuses a bottle. Has anyone else had to do this with a breastfed baby? How do they get the contrast in the baby?

Will he take the bottle if he's hungry enough? I know they make them go some many hours before the test. I can't remember how many but I remember my daughter was starving and drank it right down. Unfortunately, I think that it depends on the doctor but they might have to do a tube to getg it down him. Luckily they don't have to drink very much. He may take the bottle and surprise you though. Good luck.

Same with my baby.
Hello! My refluxer had never touched a bottle to her lips before the test but she drank the breastmilk and contrast easily due to hunger. You might want to experiment with a few bottle/nipple combos and see if you can find one he will tolerate. If he uses a pacifier, you might be able to find a nipple that is similar. The hard part of the test for us was the fasting. She was so hungry and so mad that I would not feed her. I got to the hospital very early and just kept her moving in the stroller.
