Shawna: First time Mom to Mallory (10/07/08). Silent reflux diagnosed at 2 months. Alimentum formula fed. Trial of Losec (minimal effect). Now Prevacid 1x/day plus Zantac 2x/day.
Esophagitis?Just wondering who has dealt with esophagitis... What signs/symptoms did you notice in your kids and how did you treat? Mallory's behaviour has been downhill lately and we took her to a GP today who said her throat was red. No fever or other signs of illness. I thought her behaviour could have been teething (she's almost 6 months now) but now I don't think so.

maia m - GERD. Nissen Fundoplication w/hiatal hernia repair.
Son (10) GERD(aspiration pneumonias, apnea, tracheomalacia), Food allergy, Asthma
Daughter (6) GERD, Heart Murmur, Food Allergy, Asthma, Mold allergy
|Both of mine and me as well.
Every time I took my daughter to the doc, for well check, tummy bug, whatever - she had a red, raw sore throat. She also had ear infections. She didn't grow for 1 1/2 years.
My son had more severe symptoms. (Aspiration pneumonias, etc.)
I had sore throats, ear infections, sinus infections, and asthma that wasn't really asthma but was aspirations.

This is our dd, Alessandra. Dx with GER 10/07. Ran the gamut with meds and now done with them (crossed fingers). Using magnesium, probiotics and prebiotic supplements. With the exception of teething and general sassy attitude, all is well now. They really CAN grow out of it!
|Esophagitis is a common side problem with GERD - the acid really can do some damage. Our dd had it, though there were no outward signs to see - found it on the scope. The right meds will help heal it and keep the inflammation from getting out of control.|

|emily has had red throat almost every well visit she goes to. in the past she has had sudden onset bronchitis and aspiration pneumonia blamed on reflux. emily always acts up more when her tummy is bothering her, she has had all her teeth since she was 16 months old and is now 2 year 2 months, try some orajel or teething tabs- even tylonol. if she calms down it's likely teething, if not i would blame reflux and do mylanta or ask for carafate. carafate was our GODSEND- no lie. good luck!||Check with your
