Hi all,

I am having problems with Nathan. This poor little guy was such a good eater and sleeper, then the past 2 weeks, he started getting fussy after feeds, waking up screaming etc... Now he has gas all the time and never wants to bend at the waste, seems always uncomfortable etc... I'm thinking of getting him off the Nutram. and onto the Neocate....what do you think? He is also on Zantac and Maalox. I'm kinda going nuts here with Jazzy still in pain and now this......UGGGGHHH!!!!

Julie - I have three children. My youngest Katie is my refluxer. My first Ben was very colicy and is ADHD. My middle Jakob is pretty easy going. Katie had it bad as a baby no sleep for two years. She was on Nutramagin, Prevacid and Zantac. Thought we were through it but after age three it came back big time. After her scope she was put on Prevacid 45mg a day and mylanta as needed. Scope was in Sept. Showed damage in stomach and espophogus. It took about 7 months of medication and Reflux diet for her to start feeling better.
Oh I am sorry that he is having problems too. The only advantage is that you know what to do from your experience with Jazzy. Poor little ones. Do you think he may be ready for a PPI or increase in Zantac dose? If you know that Neocate work I would go for it.

Hang in there.

Thanks...I think I'll try the neocate and hope for the best. He's on 5mg twice a day, just started. I hope that does the trick.

I heard and saw on the Emfail website that that they now make a Nutramigen AA (amino acid) but I think that it might be more expensive than Neocate. Sounds like an AA based formula trial would be what I would do. Also, has he tried a PPI yet?

Ok, so I haven't been on here in forever. Congrats on your new little guy! I had a moment and decided to pop on this morning. It is nice to be back:) Sorry your man has reflux and MSPI, but at least you know what to do. We never had luck with zantac, even when Cooper was on reglan and prevacid with it. I think when they have a combo issues like gerd and allergies, it doesn't cut it. As for the Nutramigen AA, don't use it! My cousin's son has severe allergies, only 3 foods at 18mo. He had been taking it and he still was having issues. Well, when they came to visit, I was reading the can. It has much more soy oil in it than Elecare (i know it is broken down, but still) It also has MSG in it! I was floored when I saw that. My cousin couldn't believe it. It also says on the lable "for MPI" (not MSPI). She switched to Elecare as soon as they got home and he is doing so much better. I really can't believe that they put MSG in a infant formula. I personally would not give it to my child after reading that. Hope the Neocate helps!

WOW Mollybeth can't believe they would put MSG in an infant formula! I didn't even know that they made it until another mom mentioned it. Will have to pass the word on about the MSG.
