Zack born 09/28/07 @ 31 weeks. Dx silent reflux @ 6 mo. Now not so silent. Switched to Elecare @ 9 mo. On Prevacid 15mg 1x daily. Looking to stop the puke and gain some lbs.
Puke stopped about 24 months and he's learning to eat...very slowly.
Still on prevacid and periactin.
DGE/ tummy bug
My super puker had a tummy bug over the weekend (puking gets WAY worse and not just at feeding time, etc)...anyway, he is on a healthy dose of reglan 4x's per day...last night (he is feeling MUCH better and was happy and smiley today) he threw up 8 ounces (yes I measured it) that he had eaten 3 hours earlier...can DGE get way worse with a sensetive tummy? He's never been that bad before. I'm hoping it's a fluke, but he was pretty pukey ( more than normal this morning, too)...Anyone know what doses of Reglan their kids were on? Z is about 19 lbs and 17 months.

OMGosh yes, DGE can get WAY worse with a tummy bug. It just slows everything way way down. Some times even to a stand still. The worse for us was hand foot and mouth. That just about brought Jedd's GI tract to a stand still for about a week. He could barely tolerate pedialyte on a continuous feed through his tube.

Jedd was taking 1.5CCs 5x's a day at just under a year old at about 19 lbs. A hefty dose as well.

Be ware it can also take a bit longer to get over those tummy bugs as well. It took us as long as a month to tolerate day feeds orally and night feed in the tube.

Thanks Jessica...I was thinking the because he was feeling so much better that his tummy was better...but I guess I need to slow down and give it a little more time...I'm just SO afraid of losing weight (which I'm afraid is inevitable.)

Oh I completely understand the losing weight thing. Jedd has easily lost 1/2 to 3/4 a pound in about 5-7 days before. It's no fun. ((HUGS))

If the dge continues to be worse you may want to talk with your pedi about post viral gastroparesis. One of ours went through that at the end of the year last year. It took some time to get over but she is 100% now! I hope that he feels better soon!!
