Spitting out the meds (solutab)
I've tried giving him the tab with a medicine dropper, he thrusts his tongue forward and spits most of it out. I've tried letting it dissolve in his cheek; again the tongue thrust problem. If he doesn't get his doses he is a bear to live with. Any suggestions on how I can get him to take the meds without spitting it out?

Tracey, mom to Katie diagnosed with GERD at 3 week.
Put it in the medicine dropped and put it further in his mouth or against his cheek so that he can't spit it out. You might have to be forceful. Our dd will sometimes do this so we give it to her stuffed animal or with a bite of something that she likes to eat.

This is our dd, Alessandra. Dx with GER 10/07. Ran the gamut with meds and now done with them (crossed fingers). Using magnesium, probiotics and prebiotic supplements. With the exception of teething and general sassy attitude, all is well now. They really CAN grow out of it!
We held it in her cheek and rubbed it when we started to dissolve it, and when we used a dropper, we put it in the back pocket of her cheek. HTH

Julie - I have three children. My youngest Katie is my refluxer. My first Ben was very colicy and is ADHD. My middle Jakob is pretty easy going. Katie had it bad as a baby no sleep for two years. She was on Nutramagin, Prevacid and Zantac. Thought we were through it but after age three it came back big time. After her scope she was put on Prevacid 45mg a day and mylanta as needed. Scope was in Sept. Showed damage in stomach and espophogus. It took about 7 months of medication and Reflux diet for her to start feeling better.
Could you put it in his cheek and then pop a bottle of water in his mouth. Let him suck until it dissolves. (We did this with Katie except it was formula - back then I didn't realize the meds needed to be given on an empty stomach.)
