Cincinnati??
Has anyone on here ever been or know anything about the Gastro. department at Cincinnati Children's Hospital? My pedi has called them about my son. Things have gotten much worse since last week. He is now refusing his bottle altogether. I can feed him when he's totally asleep but that's it. He just screams and arches his back. They upped his prevacid dose about a week ago and is already on Reglan. I called them this morning about going ahead and starting Neocate or Elecare until we hear back from Cincinnati. He has an ENT appointment tomorrow to rule out submucous cleft but that is the least of my concerns right now. I'm praying they can get us into Cincinnati. We live in Louisville, KY and have a children's hospital here, but I guess they think Cincinnati is better for these kind of things. You can see on my other post last week (New Here and Need Suggestions) all of the things going on with him.

Strong, Beautiful, daughter who is thriving beyond imagination and a healthy, happy 3 year old.
We have not been there, but we have considered this for Meggy. We live in GA. Just currently, I have medical issues of my own to deal with. I haven't heard many personal stories regarding Cinci, but have read a lot on their websites.

We have been to John Hopkins and have been very pleased with the GI department thus far.

You should e-mail or call the staff or drs in the department that you are seeing, it will help assuage your fears. I have been e-mailing the dr in our department and it has really helped! He has been VERY fast to respond. I bet you will get the same treatment, sometimes it helps just to ask questions. I hope this helps!

Thanks! That makes me feel better. Just got off the phone with Cincinnati. We have an appointment with a GI doctor on March 26th our pedi is trying to get us in sooner but we also have a referral out for the feeding team (GI, OT, SP, and nutritionist) since he has other feeding issues as well. Unfortunately feeding team is full until May but pedi can prob. get us pushed up to April. This is frustrating b/c we need it now. If this continues until April or May he will be on a feeding tube. ARGHH! My pedi suggested driving to Cincinnati and trying to be admitted through the ER that way we could see someone.

Bryson (3/06), former Neocate, Nexium, and Reglan baby. Diagnosed with peanut allergy and asthma. Weaned from meds in Spring 0f 08. Brother, Parker (6/04), was also on Prevacid and Pregestimil (formula) as an infant.
I grew up in Cincinnati, but no longer live in the state. I know they have been recognized as a top children's hospital. I wish we would have been closer to them when my children were having their issues awhile back. Our pedi did her residency at Cincinnati Children's and had wonderful things to say about the hospital. Sorry I can't give you more information. We wish you the best! You should have some Cincinnati chili while you are in town. (Skyline Chili is the best!)
