Mom to Charlie - cleft palate and reflux. Meds - zantac, prevacid, mylanta and reglan.
Starting feeding therapy
My little guy (15 mos) just started feeding therapy as he has been NPO due to reflux and aspiration. He did take a bottle for about 8 months before we had to stop due to aspiration. 100% g-tube fed now. The therapist comes highly recommended which is comforting. We are at the stage now where we offer him tiny bits of baby food on a spoon and are working to get him to a point where we can do a modified barium swallow to see how that is going. Any advice as we start the process? Other than lots of patience :-). Also does anyone know of any sites or message boards specific to this? Thanks, Susie

Jessica, Mommy to Jedd, severe reflux, severe food and oral aversions, Finally G tube free!!! VSD repair 4-24-07 (open heart surgery), hypospadias, repaired 3 times and Ear tubes Visit Jedd at his CB site: www.caringbridge.org/visit/jedd
I'd make sure the SLP knows the signs of aspiratin VERY well and is WELL trained in dleaing with kids who aspirate while eating/drinking. Has anyone suggested doing Vital Stim Therapy with him?? I know some one who used it with 2 kiddos and it worked great. The SLP has to be specially trained to use the Vital Stim.

the only "board" I know of that has a feeding aversion section is www.parent-2-parent.com/forum

I'd def. get a MBSS doen soon to get clearance for therapy.
