Nutramigen
Hi all

Usually I post about Jazz, but I have a Nutram. question. Nathan's been doing ok so far with it, but seems to be full of gas and cries a lot while having a poop. Now I only see a bit of watery blood at the end of his poop, so it still could be a fissue. However, isn't Nutram. suppose to help with gas as well? I'm thinking maybe of switching to Neocate....What do you think?

How long has he been on the Nutram? Sounds to me like I would try the Neocate. How long did they say it would take the fissure to heal?

They really didn't say about the fissure...thing is if he keeps on having a difficult time pushing, he'll just irritate it over and over. As for the Nutram. it's been almost 2 weeks now...:-)

Julie - I have three children. My youngest Katie is my refluxer. My first Ben was very colicy and is ADHD. My middle Jakob is pretty easy going. Katie had it bad as a baby no sleep for two years. She was on Nutramagin, Prevacid and Zantac. Thought we were through it but after age three it came back big time. After her scope she was put on Prevacid 45mg a day and mylanta as needed. Scope was in Sept. Showed damage in stomach and espophogus. It took about 7 months of medication and Reflux diet for her to start feeling better.
Maybe try Mylanta. It has an anti-gas component in it.

Might want to ask about giving him something to soften his stool so the fissure can heal. The crying when pooping is probably b/c the fissure hasn't healed. If you can get his stool soft then maybe he wouldn't have such a time pooping.

My daughter has been on Nutramigen for less than a week. Since her very first bottle of the stuff she has had very watery and stinky diarrhea almost with every bottle. I thought that was normal because they don't have to digest and break down anything. If your child is having a hard time going and having solid stool maybe I'm wrong and should have her checked!! I better call the doctor, AGAIN!
Check with your
doctor first!
