Cup Issues
We are yet to find a sippy cup that Will can drink out of without choking.. tried just about every kind, even regular topless cup. He chokes, coughs, spits whenever he drinks anything. So we've been sticking to bottles with a stage 1 nipple. Being 16 mos they want him off the bottle. Anyone else have this problem? Which cups work for you?

This is our dd, Alessandra. Dx with GER 10/07. Ran the gamut with meds and now done with them (crossed fingers). Using magnesium, probiotics and prebiotic supplements. With the exception of teething and general sassy attitude, all is well now. They really CAN grow out of it!
Went thorugh the same thing. Allie refused all cups actually, and still won't take milk out of one. She finally decided she likes the Nuby cups the most (and we've tried at least 9). Still on 2 bottles a day for the milk, but at least it's progress, right?

Zack born 09/28/07 @ 31 weeks. Dx silent reflux @ 6 mo. Now not so silent. Switched to Elecare @ 9 mo. On Prevacid 15mg 1x daily. Looking to stop the puke and gain some lbs.
Puke stopped about 24 months and he's learning to eat...very slowly.
Still on prevacid and periactin.
we're still on a bottle. I can't get him to hold anything himself, but he's used a nuby with the valve out and a regular open cup. No choking, but he definitely drinks too fast.

Adriane Reese 05/16/07; seemingly healthy when born; diagnosed with MSPI, severe Reflux, Apnea, Ashtma, Epilepsy, and severe food allergies(rice, corn, milk, soy, eggs, oats, wheat, beef, chicken, squash, pumpkin, avocado, etc.);On apnea monitor, seems to be tolerating RCF w/carbohydrate mixed in; on Zyrtec, Xopenex, Prevacid
When A was switching she wouldn't use anything but a straw. I don't know why and my oldest couldn't use a straw for a long time so I thought it was strange but she still prefers the cups with a straw. If you haven't tried those you might get one and offer it to them.

Mom to Matthew, 01/16/08, GERD baby, has been on Zantac since 2 mos. Aidan, his twin brother, no GERD. Max-ed out on Zantac at 1ml-3 times/day, and switched to Prevacid 15mg split tab 08/20/08. Switched again to 20mg Prilosec 09/18/08 due to Prevacid's restlessness/headache side effects. Reflux was out of control again and had to switch to 10mg Nexium 02/11/09. Good result so far.
I've used the regular sippy and take the valve out. It seems to be easier for Matthew to suck the juice out, still very slow but it works. He's still on bottle for formula though.
