Heimlech
Last night as I was preparing Jordyn's meds (all eight of them in their glory) she snuck a piece of candy out of a dish on the coffee table. Usually no big deal but since she new it was almost bed time she snuck off with it and tried to eat it to quick appearantly. I heard her cough once and heard pounding footsteps. I turned to see her with her hands around her throat, terrified look on her blueing face. Needless to say I screamed for her dad as I picked her up and started the heimlech. One thrust was all it took and she coughed and started crying. She was holding her tummy. She asked for a drink and asked why I punched her bellie. I was shaking so bad by the time my husband reappeared after taking care of the dogs. Oblivious to what had just gone on he wanted to know why I punched her. As you know with the heiomlech there is no punching involved but I am sure to her thats what it felt like. I told DH I never wanted to have to do that again and he just hugged me and said "If you have to you will" Talk about scary.

I am Jacky, mommy to Joslyn Olivia (April 2008) and Katelyn Isabel (November 2009).
Joslyn was dx'ed with Silent Reflux with breath apnea at 5 days old. VERY SCARY!
Katelyn is a spitter reflux baby. Started at 3 days old as well. (Both were/are breast fed.. symptoms came on when my milk came in).
Joslyn has been reflux free since she was 12 months (suffered poor weight gain for a few months) and Katelyn is now on Zantac... waiting to see if it works.
OMG! fast thinking there momma!

How scary... i bet you were shaking when it was all done.

I would have lost it afterward. You are my hero for the day

By the time we went to bed daddy helped her to understand that I was helping her. When I tucked her in she said "thanks for helping me breathe again" I did shake for about an hour afterwards. You would think a person would get used to that kind of stuff after almost a year on apnea monitors and LTE's and the holding the breath spells after the projectile vomiting but not me still get all shook up. This wasn't the first time she had to have the heimlech done but it was the first time I had to do it.The other 2 times her pap had to do it because her nanna the x paramedic and mother of 4 gets to emotional to do it on a granchild.
