Toddler seat
I have read many posts her in the past about infant car seats and then switching to the next step. DD is 4 and we are using a high back booster. She cries every time we are in the car and is constantly pulling the shoulder strap down so she can get more room for her bellie by pulling the lap belt out. I know from what I have read that the lap belt should fit across her upper thighs but for some reason it does not. Is there a way to improve comfort for a toddler in the car. I always thought that once she wasn't scrunched up anymore we wouldnt have "car problems" anymore but no such luck. We are going to see a new GI in March and it will be a 3 1/2 hr drive. I want her to be comfortable but havent found a solution yet. Her tummy is always so bloated and know how real that pain is when she dosen't even want to go visit her granparents that live 30 min away.

Julie - I have three children. My youngest Katie is my refluxer. My first Ben was very colicy and is ADHD. My middle Jakob is pretty easy going. Katie had it bad as a baby no sleep for two years. She was on Nutramagin, Prevacid and Zantac. Thought we were through it but after age three it came back big time. After her scope she was put on Prevacid 45mg a day and mylanta as needed. Scope was in Sept. Showed damage in stomach and espophogus. It took about 7 months of medication and Reflux diet for her to start feeling better.
I don't know if it has anything with the "high back" booster that is causing her to be uncomfortable. Is it forcing her to be too upright? We use a regular booster. Her back is against the actual seat of the car and I have the seat angled back a bit.

Katie was horrible in the car until we switched to the booster.HTH

Grace 7/2/04 reflux free now!
Molly 7/10/07 the reason I'm here!
Do you have a babies r us, or toys r us store near you? If you go there, you can ask to take the models out to your car and test them with your daughter to see if you can find one that makes her more comfortable. I also have a 4 year old, who is in a high back booster, and the belt goes across her thighs, not her stomach. We have the Graco turbo booster.

Maggie is now 3 years old and reflux free (knock on wood). I still check in some to see how everybody is doing :) Hugs to all!
I haven't made it to that step yet. The only advice I have is: our baby store has all the car seats on display so the child can sit in them. You could try them out. I bet they'd even let you take a few out to the car to try if you explained the situation. Our store is wonderful, it's Babies R Us.
