Mom to Matthew, 01/16/08, GERD baby, has been on Zantac since 2 mos. Aidan, his twin brother, no GERD. Max-ed out on Zantac at 1ml-3 times/day, and switched to Prevacid 15mg split tab 08/20/08. Switched again to 20mg Prilosec 09/18/08 due to Prevacid's restlessness/headache side effects. Reflux was out of control again and had to switch to 10mg Nexium 02/11/09. Good result so far.
Dear Jessica - Thanks a lot for checking. The pedi didn't have answer for Matthew's pain and irritability but he was concerned and thought that the symptoms should have been better since the 2 teeth have erupted. He thought the Prilosec should help with reflux and so far food/milk/soy allergy is not an issue for Matthew but he was not sure 100% unless we order a blood test!! He also thought a scope can probably wait for now. He ordered a swallow study and suggest to bring up the EE concern with the GI next visit. He also referred me to a pediatric occupational therapist for his textured food aversion and possible Sensory Processing Disorder (Matthew's symptoms are very familiar to other kiddos here: fussy and meltdown when changing environment, new places, new people, hate car-seat, stroller, changing clothes, etc.). The pedi didn't give any diagnosis yet. We'll have the swallow studying apt next Wed, and seeing a GI nurse practitioner next Thu (can't get an earlier apt with his regular GI doctor though). I hope to schedule with the therapist some time next week. Hopefully we'll find some answers soon. Thank you so much for your support. Have a nice weekend! God bless our kids!

Just so you know, dont hold too much faith in the allergy testing... they can show a child is not allergic to something when in fact they are. Glad the appt went well!
Check with your
doctor first!
