Elecare and Reflux
I'm new here. I just read a post from several months ago about a baby's reflux potentially worsening while on Elecare. Just wondering about anyone's experience with Elecare and reflux. My child's reflux has seemed to worsen one week after starting Elecare (for milk protein allergy). My daughter is almost 3 months old, tried Alimentum with some success but blood in stool and other issues. Then switched to Elecare. On Pepsid (adjusted for weight gain) for over month due to painful refluxing. She is spitting up like never before while on Elecare (never really spit up before) and bothers her big time. I'm in the process of trying a new GI.

Andrea: Mom to 3 crazy girls!
Jackie (3/01)
Payton (9/03)
Abby (4/06) Prevacid 7.5mg (evening), MSPI, goats milk (currently trying to wean off Prevacid)
Some babies spit up more on Neocate and Elecare b/c they are so thin and can come up easier. Have you tried a PPI?

Zack born 09/28/07 @ 31 weeks. Dx silent reflux @ 6 mo. Now not so silent. Switched to Elecare @ 9 mo. On Prevacid 15mg 1x daily. Looking to stop the puke and gain some lbs.
Puke stopped about 24 months and he's learning to eat...very slowly.
Still on prevacid and periactin.
you also have to consider that it's made from corn...if your child has a corn allergy you don't know about it could worsen reflux. My son is on Elecare and he still throws up a storm...we are waiting for allergy test results.

My name is being used fraudently to ill represent me. Please be cautious of any information you receive with my name. including,,, anything from anyone claiming to be Engi Nowaira online. Otherwise, I will be representing myself in person so that everyone will have opportunity to identify me in person.
My previous drivers license was also stolen. The new one has extra security features on it.
My little was absolutely worst on elemental formulas. She has other issues though including daily pain. She does not actually show allergy to corn, but she sure has the sensitivity and intolerance.

It is a nightmare for her to have corn even in Tiny amounts. She has done great on Ultracare for kids for a few months now, but just recently started to wean herself off that too. Seems the corn builds up in her little system and the more she has the more she hurts.

I hope you find some answers and soon. Is your little one showing any signs of pain other than reflux-I know that is enough?
