Julie - I have three children. My youngest Katie is my refluxer. My first Ben was very colicy and is ADHD. My middle Jakob is pretty easy going. Katie had it bad as a baby no sleep for two years. She was on Nutramagin, Prevacid and Zantac. Thought we were through it but after age three it came back big time. After her scope she was put on Prevacid 45mg a day and mylanta as needed. Scope was in Sept. Showed damage in stomach and espophogus. It took about 7 months of medication and Reflux diet for her to start feeling better.
who won't eat flintstone's vitamins
I mean really. Every child loves Flintstones vitamins. Heck - I like them. Katie has banned every and all medicine except for prevacid and mylanta.

I really want her to take a vitamin. Anyone have any ideas? Maybe something less chalky. I am at a loss. I have even tried the princess ones.

This is our dd, Alessandra. Dx with GER 10/07. Ran the gamut with meds and now done with them (crossed fingers). Using magnesium, probiotics and prebiotic supplements. With the exception of teething and general sassy attitude, all is well now. They really CAN grow out of it!
how about liquid vitamins? You can add them to juice or something.

Jessica, Mommy to Jedd, severe reflux, severe food and oral aversions, Finally G tube free!!! VSD repair 4-24-07 (open heart surgery), hypospadias, repaired 3 times and Ear tubes Visit Jedd at his CB site: www.caringbridge.org/visit/jedd
Crush them!!!!
We give Jedd 1/2 a tablet a day per DR orders. He can't chew anything like that so we crush them and add them to something he will eat. Works like a charm.

We also used to crush them and put the dust in a syringe and then suck up warm tap water. That would dilute it enough to get it in his feeding tube when he was NON oral.

Renee, mother to Nicholas, born 4/18/08 with silent reflux, moderate laryngomalacia, Sandifer's Syndrome& suspected MSPI. On Neocate, Simply Thick and Prevacid. Also mother to Nathan, born 12/06/06, who had mild reflux the first few months.
Nathan won't take the vitamens either. I've tried feeding him gummie bears and trying to slip a gummie vitamen in but no go. I end up eating it myself. We have gone back to the liquid vitamens. He will drink it in milk or juice without complaint.

Seamus was diagnosed with Silent Reflux at 3 weeks. Now he is 14 months, on Prilosec and avoiding dairy, soy, egg. Still nursing. A lot !!!
Seamus HATES Flinstone Vitamins..I looked at the ingredients and found artificial flavors AND colors..We went to our local natural natural foods store and found several that he liked(they had tester bottles which we could sample from) The winner was Nature's Plus Animal Parage(DAIRY FREE) I like it too. Good luck on your hunt.

maggiemom
Maggie is now 3 years old and reflux free (knock on wood). I still check in some to see how everybody is doing :) Hugs to all!
I was also gonna suggest the gummies. You don't even have to tell her it's a vitamin. Morgan loves them. I'd just put one on her plate for bkfst and tell her it's a treat for being such a sweet, wonderful, loving, bla bla bla, lil girl, lol.

Of course this is coming from a mom who just found out that her 9yo is spitting her robitussin back into her water cup. ugh

maia m - GERD. Nissen Fundoplication w/hiatal hernia repair.
Mom to
Son (10) GERD(aspiration pneumonias, apnea, tracheomalacia), Food allergy, Asthma
Daughter (6) GERD, Heart Murmur, Food Allergy, Asthma, Mold allergy
both of mine *hate* flintstones. ... and I told them they can stop when they eat 5 fruits/veggies a day, etc! LOL. Also, the gummy vites just did not have the same nutrition as the complete flintstones... mine need the extras (I forget what - iron? calcium? Vit D?). But doctors orders, both of mine must choke down a vitamin daily! :)

Amalia 11/1/06, Silent reflux- Weaned off prevacid in the summer- back on again 15mg. Back on lactaid. Atalia- 6/17/08 DX with GERD and colic at 9 days of age. Appears to have mild MSPI. Upper GI. On Prevacid 22.5mg. Successful transition to whole milk! Eats everything!
Pic. Amalia and Atalia having fun at home.
Amalia will not eat them either. They told me to try this liquid vitamin from enfamil, it's called poly-vi-sol but it's so STRONG- I ADDED IT TO A WHOLE BOWL OF OATMEAL- WITH TONS OF CINNAMON, BANANA AND PRUNES (SHE LOVES PRUNES) and she could still taste it! She wanted none of the oatmeal. Let me know if you find something! God Bless.
Check with your
doctor first!
