Mom to Jasmine aka: Jazz 01/24/2007
Dx with silent reflux at 8 months
FPIES, DGE, MSPI. Recently diagnosed with EC (Eosin. colitis and now Primary immune deficiency disease.
Also mom to Nathan. born Jan.20th, 2009, MPI . so far dx with reflux and has an extremely sensitibe GI system. Also dx with primary immune deficiency disease.
Tired, pregnant, can't stand to see my babe this way....
So I am pretty down now. I have to have another C-section because I am retaining close to 20lbs of water (edema) and my blood pressure is creeping up, although not high yet, my Dr. is worried about the creeping up part. So Feb. 6th is the date.... :-(

Jazz is still miserable. I called GI and left a message again, which I will have to do all week just to get a response. She is only eating 7 foods and still her colitis is flaring up. She is starting to lose weight because she is not eating any protein (too hard on her system). She is wining, wants to be held all day, won't sleep, doesn't eat much, won't play by herself, won't sit in a car seat or stroller. I am 36 weeks pregnant and full of water weight, exhausted and can't carry her around all day. It's hard because she is my first priority...KWIM?

Would you guys take her in to the ER despite the fact that no Dr there will know her? I'd rather g to her Dr, but it seems impossible just to get a call back???

How am I going to do this with a new born???? Everything is a fight, diaper change, getting dressed, eating, not getting picked up, sleeping, going in the car etc..... This is crazy, I feel like such a bad mom because I can see that I am getting short tempered with her sometimes. And I hate that because she is not misbehaving....:-(

I don't know how I'm going to get through all this.

Any advise from you mom's with more than one? Or any advise from anyone at all.....?

Thanks for reading this ladies.

Resolved issues: MSPI, CSID (acquired), Stage 2 kidney reflux, Chronic diarrhea.
Audrey Meadow 06/20/08. born 34/35 weeks. Still b/f and eats everything! ftt and chronic constipation.
i made the mistake a couple times of taking emily to the ER for GI problems and didn't get any answers. BUT what i found out i could have done was take her down the the Children's hospital ER on the days that I knew my dr was doing rounds and there was a good chance she would get seen by him. Do they do something like that up there?

i felt like that all the time when i was pregnant with audrey i couldn't possibly figure out how i was going to deal with emily and audrey, but some how i did it. emily was even going through a horrible flare right after audrey was born. but somehow i just did it... my days are pretty clear, it's just me and emily and audrey so it kinda left me able to nap when and if they did and it really wasn't as hard as i thought it was going to be

i hope that the new baby will also help jazz too b/c audrey seemed to help take emily;s mind off of her pain. your new one will have a birthday 2 days after emily :)

Sorry you are having such a hard time. U r very strong however and I think you will do whatever it takes to make it through all of this. I know a C-Section is tough.

Thinking about you plenty. Write more later.

Kat, I will defintely call the Children's and find out when her Dr is on call or doing a shift..good idea. I hope it is as doable with two as you make it sound!!!

when i was pregnant i did a lot of sitting on the floor on pillows in front of the tv with emilyshe would not sit with me on the couch. emi loves movies that have singing and baby einstein and her sign language videos... i was on bed rest so i couldn't go out on that many walks or pick her up and she is NOT cuddly :( but the only time she will sit on my lap is if i sit on the floor and that was the only time she would stop screaming or throwing tantrums, does jazz like movies?? i'm sure you've thought of it already though..

kinda in retrospect i feel that not having any help from family kinda made it easier. emily is used to how i alone do things and the week that daddy and mil (who i love dearly) were here she was confused b/c they do things different then me and so i think the less confusion for jazz might be something to consider. keep things as similar as they were before the baby as you can. emily didn't really care about the baby and still to this day does not see her as competition which is great.

Audrey has her own set of issues but none near as severe as Emily so i will do the same for you as many moms did for me and pray that your new baby will be a sweet blessing with no health issues! I will say.. baby proof EVERYTHING so that if you doze off from exhaustion (and it probably will happen) jazz can't get into anything, lol. and keep a good sense of humor and don't take yourself so seriously you will make things work for you and your family in a way that is perfect for you all. *hugs* :)

Seamus was diagnosed with Silent Reflux at 3 weeks. Now he is 14 months, on Prilosec and avoiding dairy, soy, egg. Still nursing. A lot !!!
Gollie, I didn't know all this time that you were pregnant! You've been talking so much about Jazzy.is there another GI you can bring her to?Somebody who can respond in a timely manner? I guess you could bring her to the ER and at least you will feel as if you have done SOMETHING...You are going to be a wonderful mama to your baby and you are doing amazing work already..I only have one so I don't have much advice in that regard..It will probably be really helpful to hire a part time nanny or trade childcare with a friend, or create some sort of situation that can give you room to breathe.. Jazzy will probably rise up to the occasion and help you out with her new sibling..Maybe the baby will be such a good sleeper that Jazzy joins in on the fun! we are supporting you always..Much Love, Seaus' mama
