Zack born 09/28/07 @ 31 weeks. Dx silent reflux @ 6 mo. Now not so silent. Switched to Elecare @ 9 mo. On Prevacid 15mg 1x daily. Looking to stop the puke and gain some lbs.
Puke stopped about 24 months and he's learning to eat...very slowly.
Still on prevacid and periactin.
Reglan vs Erythro
Anyone have no luck with one and luck with another. We have finally given up on the Reglan...no side effects, but the vomiting is back and it's not helped with a higher dose...we gave it three full months...we got about two weeks of little vomiting. So before any invasive testing, doc wants us to give Erythro a shot...we will start in in a few days when the Reglan is out of his system...Anyone have any really great stories about success with Erythro to share?? I could stand to hear them. Also, Z had his FULL blood and allergy panel done yesterday (God help me, it was horrible)...say a little prayer that something in there answers some QUESTIONS! Thanks!

Jessica, Mommy to Jedd, severe reflux, severe food and oral aversions, Finally G tube free!!! VSD repair 4-24-07 (open heart surgery), hypospadias, repaired 3 times and Ear tubes Visit Jedd at his CB site: www.caringbridge.org/visit/jedd
Reglan is extremely weight sensitive. I'd up it before going to EES. The EES has been discontinued in suspension form. I think you can still get it but I *think* you have to crush it. Not sure because we just DX it instead of trying to figure out what to do.LOL

For us if we could have stayed on the Reglan we would have. It worked way better than the EES did for him.

But again, Reglan is very weight sensitive and if there was less vomiting going on chances are you got a good weight gain that would require of med change in dosing.

With Jedd I KNEW for a fact that Reglan worked better because I could use his G tube to drain him gastrically and check his residual levels. The Reglan ALWAYS worked better for him. All kids are different though and respond to meds differently.

unfortunately we have had no weight gain...no loss, but no gain and the comiting is back as bad as it ever was. We'll give this a shot...I'm just so very afraid that our choices are narrowing and narrowing...i hope something works soon.

Sorry to not provide a happy story for you. Like Jessica, Reglan was a godsend for a while for us but when it stopped working we tried Erthro. It did nothing for us other then give my kid 24/7 watery diarrhea. I hope you have better luck. I also hope the allergy panel gives you some answers. We have done it more then once on both my children. So I completely understand how awful it is too watch. Keep us posted when you try the Erthro.

I didn't mean to make it sould like the EES doesn't work It just didn't work as well as Reglan for US.

I know some kids that respond REALLY well to EES so it is most certainly worth a shot. I really hope to works great for you all.

Check with your
doctor first!
