Update from Seamus' mama
Hello everybody! I have been so sleep deprived that I haven't had the energy to do much more than mother this wonderful yet challenging reflux kid! During the last three weeks, Seamus has been waking up throughout the night with a loud scream. I can hear loud swallows and funny belly noises so I think it is his silent reflux..It is so hard to tell exactly what is going on..Once I pick him up he quiets down and nurses back to sleep. I feel like its a combo of habit and pain but it is so hard to tell because I am so zombie-like. I intrduced egg about a month ago. Could it be the egg? There are no rashes/hives/etc..I have no idea. I am just really tired and I find myself crying in the middle of the night begging Seamus to sleep. He never stays awake for long..He is usually back asleep in a few minutes, thank goodness. The family is coming to stay with us for Christmas..I look forward to some big feasts and walks in the woods. I hope you all are getting more sleep than me. Have a nice day! ***Seamus' mama

Zack born 09/28/07 @ 31 weeks. Dx silent reflux @ 6 mo. Now not so silent. Switched to Elecare @ 9 mo. On Prevacid 15mg 1x daily. Looking to stop the puke and gain some lbs.
Puke stopped about 24 months and he's learning to eat...very slowly.
Still on prevacid and periactin.
you poor thing...I would cut the egg for a week and see if it improves...egg is a pretty common allergy. Good luck and I hope your holiday is happy! I hope Santa brings you some sleep! :)

I am Jacky, mommy to Joslyn Olivia (April 2008) and Katelyn Isabel (November 2009).
Joslyn was dx'ed with Silent Reflux with breath apnea at 5 days old. VERY SCARY!
Katelyn is a spitter reflux baby. Started at 3 days old as well. (Both were/are breast fed.. symptoms came on when my milk came in).
Joslyn has been reflux free since she was 12 months (suffered poor weight gain for a few months) and Katelyn is now on Zantac... waiting to see if it works.
bless your hearts! I agree to take egg away for a week or so... see if that helps.

I have 3 boys, youngest has gerd, 18 months of no sleep. Prevacid 2x/7.5 mg thinking of switching to prilosec.
Hi seamus' mama. The yolk is not a big allergy inducer/causer...sorry can't think of the right word. I give David a yolk every day. Of course the cholesterol isn't the best but I like giving it becz it sits well with him and is full of nutrients. I fry it in olive oil and peel the yolk out- easy. Wishing many hours of sleep for you two.

member of the walking dead here too... i too think trying a week without egg is in order, you need to find your baseline and if you are super sleep deprived like me- write it on a calender! lol! if at the end of the week still the same i would consider a med increase and see what happens i hope you have a great time with your family and merry christmas!

Thanks for all the input! We will try no egg and see what happens..It has been sooo long since we had decent rest..I am hoping to get a break w the family visiting..Its sort of funny because so far...My brother clogged the toilet first thing in the morning and did NOTHING about it, then shaved in the shower and left hair bits everywhere, Seamus turned off the hot water heater so we havent been able to do dishes or take showers/baths, the parents dog chewed up Seamus' fancy bamboo fork and spoon(he refuses to eat with any other silverwear) , my hubbie critisized my housekeeping, and my mother has been harassing my husband about his lowpaying job..Did I mention that my brother ate a whole pint of pesto then had horrible gastric distress and refused to leave out tiny house? The holidays are never dull in this family !!!I'm sure there will be more exitement !!
