We are still around
Hey guys. I haven't been on here in a couple of weeks. Things have been super busy and I haven't had a moment, but I wanted to give a quick update and wish everyone a very blessed Christmas and holiday season. Cooper is official weaned. I am happy and sad all at the same time. He hasn't nursed since the 13th. He is doing so well on the elecare. He gained 2 lbs since we started it in early dec. He now weighs 20lbs, so he was able to turn around for his bday. I never thought that would happen. He is walking now too. It is amazing the difference the formula has made. No matter how I tried, there was still something in my diet getting to him. I am so glad I did it for as long as I did though and have no regrets. I am struggling to dry up and still getting engorged. Any advice? Cooper is drinking between 18-24oz at 30cal/oz a day, but has not been eating to well. We are working on adding new foods and I am being more brave about it now. He started bananas this week, and so far it seems to be a go. I have a beautiful and healthy new nephew. He has had a little bit of reflux, but not too bad. Hopefully it won't be bad. My poor niece was a projectile vomiter, but I am hoping he won't be. I think that is all. Hope everyone is well. Merry Christmas and God bless!

Maggie is now 3 years old and reflux free (knock on wood). I still check in some to see how everybody is doing :) Hugs to all!
OMgosh! how exciting! I know you're a little sad. I was too when I weaned Mags from bfeeding. I always said that she might have done even better if I had weaned her sooner. Who knows.

I'm so glad he's gaining and doing well.

I don't know about how to dry up the milk. Have you looked at kellymom.com? There may be something there.

Congrats on your nephew!

Real quick-I used plain ole green cabbage leaves and put them in my bra. Just change them every couple hours and leave them in around the clock. It really helped me! Good luck and Merry Christmas!

Julie - I have three children. My youngest Katie is my refluxer. My first Ben was very colicy and is ADHD. My middle Jakob is pretty easy going. Katie had it bad as a baby no sleep for two years. She was on Nutramagin, Prevacid and Zantac. Thought we were through it but after age three it came back big time. After her scope she was put on Prevacid 45mg a day and mylanta as needed. Scope was in Sept. Showed damage in stomach and espophogus. It took about 7 months of medication and Reflux diet for her to start feeling better.
i am so happy that he is doing so well on the formula. i pray for some stress free days for you. i used cold compresses when i was engorged.

Seamus was diagnosed with Silent Reflux at 3 weeks. Now he is 14 months, on Prilosec and avoiding dairy, soy, egg. Still nursing. A lot !!!
Hooray for you and Cooper! I'm so glad that you and Cooper are doing so well. There are numerous herbs which can help lessen milk production, such as parsley, sage, and peppermint. I have a great book called the Nursing Mother's Herbal, by Sheila Humphrey. I love it. Also, I suggest consulting this amazing herbalist who I use for everything, except reflux. Her name is Christa Sinadinos and her e-mail address is herbaleducation@suddenlink.net. She is amazing and I have had outstanding results with all of my womanly needs! I am so happy things are working out well for you right now. Merry Christmas! Love, Seamus' mama

wow!!! yay for cooper!!! and merry christmas to you all! :) the same thing happened with me and emily i tried tried tried to keep my breast feeding diet strict but i gave up after 5 months and she did soo much better on nutramigen... it made me both sad and happy at the same time so i know how you feel! Emily went cold turkey so well i just kinda dealt with the engorgement... after two weeks it was better. i also pumped for 5 mins every time i just couldn't stand it anymore. no hot showers either that makes it worse, and my best friend told me cabbage really works, never tried it though, hope you feel better soon, merry christmas!
