Ella is still feeling rough but better. She was throwing up blood last night (normal) and just some spit up this morning. The scope went well, no problems with anesthesia or anything. She was hilarious on the "giggle juice" (which she got in a shot so she wouldn't aspirate).

She did her scope on full medications. The scope showed damage in her esophagus so they DOUBLED her PPI (to an adult dose) and we are waiting for the biopsy results. I asked if that amount of damage could have been causing her pain and they seemed to think that it was enough to be causing ALL of her pain. The DR commented that Ella muct have been refluxing much more than we thought she was. :( We will see what else is going on when we get the results in Jan.

Thanks for asking!!

Julie - I have three children. My youngest Katie is my refluxer. My first Ben was very colicy and is ADHD. My middle Jakob is pretty easy going. Katie had it bad as a baby no sleep for two years. She was on Nutramagin, Prevacid and Zantac. Thought we were through it but after age three it came back big time. After her scope she was put on Prevacid 45mg a day and mylanta as needed. Scope was in Sept. Showed damage in stomach and espophogus. It took about 7 months of medication and Reflux diet for her to start feeling better.
Same thing happened with Katie. She must have been refluxing for a long time and I didn't know it. She had damage in stomach and esophogus. They increased her prevacid dose to 45 mg.

It took about a month or so to heal it up but now her pain is very minimal.

SHe should be feeling better soon.

Oh poo. Well, at least you know which way to go now. Poor sweetie.

I got to talk to my friend the other day. (the one with the 6yr old that has problems. Her dad was killed recently) She does in fact have reflux. They had her on the adult dose and she's still throwing up. She said many days at school, she throws up 10 times!!! She said they're gonna try to figure out what to do after the holidays. I'm sure some of it is anxiety but her mom said it is acidic, she can smell it.

I wish I knew what to tell her. they've done a scope, pH probe, upper GI, etc. I'm not sure if she's seeing a dr worth his snuff or not. I don't want to be "bossy" ya know.

She's acting odd tonight... I think the anesthesia has yet to totally clear her system. I am hopeful that doubling her med dose will ease the pain. At least until we can figure out what is really going on. They seem to suspect EE but have to wait on the biopsy results. I am glad they did the scope just to know that she is not on medicines she doesn't need to be on... that having been said we were really hoping to get her off of meds but this does explains why none of her attempted med weans went well. I am looking forward to having a happy and pain free girly again soon. :)
