Back from ENT
We just got back from the ENT and things went...as I expected. He looked at the charts from the pedi, from the allergy doc, the immunology reports, the CT scans and the video of him sleeping. He basically said we have been through the ringer, it is effecting Brandon and he would reccomed removing the tonsils AND enlarging the sinus cavitites. He said he only even recommends enlarging the sinus' in kids Boo's age about 2x's a year. It is not common but most have not been through what we have been through. We are still deciding on dates but I will keep you posted.

I am having a hard time with this for some reason. Him and I butt heads and he drives me nuts, but he is my baby boy and this is a lot going on at once for him. Please keep us in your thoughts and prayers while we finalize our decision and decide on dates. We are also having to schedul around my hysterectomy...ugh!

Julie - I have three children. My youngest Katie is my refluxer. My first Ben was very colicy and is ADHD. My middle Jakob is pretty easy going. Katie had it bad as a baby no sleep for two years. She was on Nutramagin, Prevacid and Zantac. Thought we were through it but after age three it came back big time. After her scope she was put on Prevacid 45mg a day and mylanta as needed. Scope was in Sept. Showed damage in stomach and espophogus. It took about 7 months of medication and Reflux diet for her to start feeling better.
It is so hard to put our kiddos through all this. HUGS

I know you will make the right decision.

Hi! Glad to hear you are finally going to get some relief. Our son had this same surgery when he was just shy of 3 years old. It honestly was the best decision we ever made...not that it was much of a decision for us...we were so tired of the constant infections and he is allergic to every oral antibiotic, so he ended up on IV antibiotics every time. The surgery is generally not done on kids...our ENT told us Max was the youngest he ever performed it on. The days leading up to it were a bit stressful because every other doctor said they couldn't believe he was having the surgery...but, it was so worth it. I don't think we would have ever gotten relief without it. As a side note, though, the sinuses can grow back to being narrow. We actually have an ENT appointment tomorrow to see if we need to repeat the surgery...Max also has a cyst growing that is blocking his sinus passage. Are they doing all four sinuses or only two? Usually they only do two in kids because the other two are not fully developed (I can't remember which ones). Good luck!

I believe it is just the 2 sinus cavities. Gosh, I did not ask. My head was spinning in there. I just know we want some relief for us AND for him!

I know what you mean...when they suggested surgery for Max, I pretty much signed up immediately and never asked a question...I had reached my breaking point and didn't need any more information :)
