It's Sharon (Elyse's mom)
hi all, i have not really been dropping by PAGER for awhile now and I thought I'd pop in. I have been spending my computer time on FB where i can "talk" to many of you anyway! Elyse has been pretty much the same for several months now in terms of reflux so there is not much to report or ask questions about...she is still on her zantac and we have to try every 2 months to wean from it. Still drinks only juice/water and really not that much but she seems to be thriving so I don't worry about it. She has a pedi appt tomorrow for 18 mo well baby. I did think of a question just now after all...re MMR vaccination, did you all get it for your kiddos? I wanted to wait since its a live virus and bc of all the autism scare surrounding it and we have waited 6 months now and he is going to ask again tomorrow about it. She will be getting a flu shot tomorrow so I might get just that one. Any input for a scared mommy?

I won't be around here much anymore as we are nearly "graduated" I think from reflux but I am on FB and I will check in from time to time. I have never participated on a board that is so supportive and where I feel as though I have made some lifelong friends! I have been visiting pager since E was maybe a month old. thanks for being here everyone!

My previous drivers license was also stolen. The new one has extra security features on it.
If we get one for Meggy, we will wait till she is at least 2 years old as she has reacted to vaccinations previously, and they were not even live. Ask if it has thermisol which contains mercury. If both contain mercury, it is not good to give them at the same time, as mercury is neurotoxin.

However, I have found that if u say the word mercury, there is automatic denial. But, if I say thermisol, they say yes it does contain it.

My pedi's office has it posted that the vax for kids under 2 do not contain mercury. Uh, isn't thermisol the same thing? Maybe they need to get their stories straight!

All of my girls (7.5, 5 and 2.5) have had the MMR vaccine when it was called for. We haven't had any problems with it but I can understand why people are hesitant.

Adriane Reese 05/16/07; seemingly healthy when born; diagnosed with MSPI, severe Reflux, Apnea, Ashtma, Epilepsy, and severe food allergies(rice, corn, milk, soy, eggs, oats, wheat, beef, chicken, squash, pumpkin, avocado, etc.);On apnea monitor, seems to be tolerating RCF w/carbohydrate mixed in; on Zyrtec, Xopenex, Prevacid
We are kind of behind on shots because of last year having RSV and pneumonia and then another strain of RSV all back to back. So, we are still playing catch up. We got the MMR shot. Haven't gotten a flu shot because of her egg allergy among other reasons. She wanted to wait until we went to NJ in CO and make them decide and monitor her but we won't be going until close to when flu season is over.

My oldest had all her shots right on time though and we never had anymore than the occasional fever and I don't think it was with the MMR. This time of year can be tricky but I'm sure you will make the right decision.

I ended up doing chicken pox and flu. Everything was fine with her check up. :)
Check with your
doctor first!
