Nap strike
Yup, that makes 4 times this week that Jazzy has been not able to sleep. I don't think it's a pain issue either. She just rolls around in her bed, or plays with her stuffies for an hour and sometimes an hour and a half. The kicker is I have to be in her room...which drives me nuts!!!! I have no idea why she is doing this really, I KNOW she's tired.......What could it be????

Andrea: Mom to 3 crazy girls!
Jackie (3/01)
Payton (9/03)
Abby (4/06) Prevacid 7.5mg (evening), MSPI, goats milk (currently trying to wean off Prevacid)

She could either be ot (over tired) or maybe she isn't tired enough. Abby went on a nap strike for about two weeks and then she got ot and now we have just got that fixed. I keep a journal of when I put her to bed and when she actually falls asleep and awake times. Then I can see a pattern forming. I would experiment with Awake times and see how she does. She is almost 2 and A times very with every kid but Abby probably could do about 4-4.5hrs of A time then. Andrea

Lorenzo b.4/25/07 1 week in NICU w/ aspirate pneumonia from a reflux episode; diagnosed GERD at 9weeks; Used Zantac for 5months. Currently using Chinese Medicine and Craniosacral Therapy. GERD, Obstructive Sleep Apnea, Sensory Processing Disorder. Ask me about breastfeeding a refluxer! Pic: day 5 in the NICU.
We go through this periodically, and honestly, knowing from your previous posts that Jazzy is so smart and curious, her inquisitive and ever evolving brain may be the culprit. Sometimes Lorenzo, who is freakishly bright, just can't shut down. He even says new words in his sleep and will pop up from a deep sleep with a quick comment about something he has been thinking or dreaming about. I have known several very intelligent people from infancy and all of them had problematic sleep patterns. I think it is just so hard to quiet down the massive amount of new information coursing through their brains, as they struggle to sort it out into information they can use and understand. I feel for you -- we are often in the same boat...
