Daniejo???
I saw your reply to another post & that you still lurk from time to time. I really wanted to ask you about Adam. I remember you pulled him off a lot of his meds for allergies/asthma - is he still off them? Eric's allergies/asthma continues to escalate, so I'm going to have no choice but to start preventative meds for a few years, but wonder if there is a light at the end of the tunnel. How is he when you bring out dusty Christmas decorations or clean your house these days? How are you & Nate? Ellen

Bryson (3/06), former Neocate, Nexium, and Reglan baby. Diagnosed with peanut allergy and asthma. Weaned from meds in Spring 0f 08. Brother, Parker (6/04), was also on Prevacid and Pregestimil (formula) as an infant.
Hello, Ellen! Sorry that I jumped in on Danie's quetions but I wanted to leave a comment. Our son, Bryson, whom you are familiar with is on preventative meds for his asthma and it has been wonderful. His asthma was causing a lot of problems when he got a cold, so we began using Pulmicort 2 times a day and have had no flare ups. Bryson does not have the extent of allergies that Eric has but the Pulmicort has helped us. At 15 months he was only allergic to peanuts and no environmental allergies. In fact, he is getting over a viral infection that has caused runny nose and coughing, but no flare up with asthma this time around. Take care and I hope he gets better! It is hard watching them struggle to breathe. A few months ago we had a scary episode and it took two doses of Xopenex to clear it up, but we had to use it every 3 hours for several days. Needless to say, we were not on Pulmicort regularly then as we were not sure if he really needed it. It was then we realized he needed to be on it regularly to prevent illnesses from causing an attack. amanda

Hi!! So glad you jumped in. Thanks for letting me know how the preventative meds helped your son. One more question, if you don't mind. My paperwork (from Children's Hospital) says to be sure to have them rinse their mouth out after using the spacer (2x daily). My son would never do that - he doesn't even drink water or understand the concept of gargling/spitting. How do you handle that? Ellen

P.S. What is his date of birth? Eric is 3/10/06.

To be honest, we don't wash his mouth out. Bryson is using the face mask. He was born on the 27th, so they are very close in age. Is Eric still eating baby food? We are here! No changes! He will eat some junk that is not in a baby food jar, but still will not touch table food. My dad tried to sneak in a bite and he got sooo mad.

Yes - he's still eating baby food! He also takes some other items broken up in small bites. But, because of his e.e. his diet will be changing again soon. Ellen P.S. I was told rinsing out the mouth prevents thrush. (But his preventative med. is called something else - can't remember right now).
