DS #1 (7/05) - Just ReDX'd Refluxer! Prevacid Solutab starting 4/8/09. Lots of food and environmental allergies. Autism, Sensory Processing Disorder, Speech Delays, Developmental Delays, Severe Muscle Tone Weakness.
DS #2 (1/08) ReDX'd refluxer. Milk and soy allergies with Soy Lecithin allergies. Oat milk drinker, Rice protein powder, DHA, and vitamins added for bulk and needed nutrition. Weak muscle tone, slightly developmentally delayed, SPD confirmed.
GI Update
We had DS #2's Endoscopy. His tummy looked good, his esophagus did not. We were supposed to just hear from our GI on Wednesday. Now she wants to see him. She also discussed placement of an NG tube because of his refusal to eat (2oz bottles 2 - 3 times a day) much. We are also, if I heard her right, going to discuss surgery options.

Mary & Nicholas 7-17-03 (non-refluxer)allergies, asthma on Singulair and Flovent & Aidan 1-28-07(my refluxer)Nissen Fundoplication on June 20, 2008, FTT, MSPI, DGE, ear tubes, allergies and severe GERD now currently taking just Prevacid and drinking Elecare Vanilla 1+.
Big Hugs!
I am sorry his scope showed esphogus damage. My son had severe damage on both of his scopes. We ended up doing the Nissen and it has been life changing. If you have any questions about the Nissen or anything else don't hesitate to ask. Big hugs I know how overwhelming it can feel to be at the point you are at.

Thank you. One question I do have, before we head to the GI on Thursday, is about feeding tubes. I have heard that they must have tube feedings after the surgery. Is this true? For how long? Is it an NG tube (in the nose) or somewhere else?

We got to keep the NG tube out a bit longer. She wants to try Periactin to increase his appetite. If it works, yea! If not, then we stop it and do something else. (NG Tube) I asked her how long we gave this, how quickly it would work, etc and let her know I wasn't going to let him dehydrate and such just for the sake of giving a lesser invasive treatment a chance. She agreed fully. So, we give it a week (unless something drastically changes in him) and see where we are at. I gave him his first dose last night (by 5:30 pm he had eaten 3 ounces total for the day). He gets it twice a day and we will see.
