Everyone update here please
Good morning. It is the time for the weekly update post. Things are going well here. I think Nolan has adjusted to the med wean. So I'm very optimistic that he will be off of meds soon:) We were gone over the weekend to my bros in Red Wing so I've been trying to catch up. I hope all the sick kids and moms(Jen) feel better soon. I don't have much time to reply lately because a new baby has started daycare. I read though. I hope you all have a very happy, safe Thanksgiving.

Julie - I have three children. My youngest Katie is my refluxer. My first Ben was very colicy and is ADHD. My middle Jakob is pretty easy going. Katie had it bad as a baby no sleep for two years. She was on Nutramagin, Prevacid and Zantac. Thought we were through it but after age three it came back big time. After her scope she was put on Prevacid 45mg a day and mylanta as needed. Scope was in Sept. Showed damage in stomach and espophogus. It took about 7 months of medication and Reflux diet for her to start feeling better.
Hey there. Katie's bronchitis is well under control thank goodness - now mom has it!

Her tummy seems (knock on wood) to be making its slow journey to healing. I really did not think it would happen. But she seems much happier and has more energy. She will be on the high dose of prevacid until February. So I am hoping for some peace until then.

IT's funny because now she refuses to eat all the foods that I had to feed her when she was in such a bad spot. It is almost like those foods remind her of when she was so sick. So I am trying to find different foods that are new but won't be too harsh on her.

Hope everyone has a great Thanksgiving. God Bless.

AUBREY-Zegerid 2x a day, Soy Milk, Tubes put in and adnoids removed (11-7), Hypotonia, ECI therapy for low muscle tone throughout trunk and hips, oral motor issues and sensory integration issues, delayed speech, Teething, probiotics
PICTURE: Aubrey in her cute cat outfit. If you look you can see how her right foot turns in. She walks that way as well. It is not as exaggerated in the morning's but gets worse in the evenings. This was after her nap.
This will be short and sweet. Aubrey seems to have perked up a bit for now. We will see what the afternoon brings. I on the other hand have a stomach virus-coming out both ends. Not a great day. I have a headache and my lower back is killing me. I am too affraid to take anything in fear I will see it again...

Adriane Reese 05/16/07; seemingly healthy when born; diagnosed with MSPI, severe Reflux, Apnea, Ashtma, Epilepsy, and severe food allergies(rice, corn, milk, soy, eggs, oats, wheat, beef, chicken, squash, pumpkin, avocado, etc.);On apnea monitor, seems to be tolerating RCF w/carbohydrate mixed in; on Zyrtec, Xopenex, Prevacid
Adriane is sick again! Yeah for winter! She was so clingy and whiney last night. She wouldn't eat anything, maybe 5 oz. of formula in 5 hours, then I got her some ice and she did chomp on that. She went and laid down on the couch and pulled a blanket over her. It was so cute but sad.

It is the last day before Thanksgiving break and thankfully a slow week at dh work so he stayed home with her today. I have an appointment for her tomorrow and hoping that she can wait until then because we are going to talk about getting her evaluated and possibly talk about tubes if this is indeed another ear infeciton.

I am hoping that Katie keeps getting better and better. Jen I hope you get to feeling better. Nothing worse than a stomach bug around the holidays! Happy Thanksgiving!

Picture: This is what happens when you raise a kid on health food and they get ahold of a Coke! Bad mom, that soda is NOT on the reflux diet.
UPDATE: Isaiah is now 12 and off meds! He is doing great, eating again and hopefully will be catching up in the growing department. I am still in the "hoping it sticks" phase, but we're so happy that he's better!
We're doing OK. I have family coming in in a few hours, and have to go finish cleaning the house in a second here....I'm a little stressed. Isaiah has been having a lot of reflux issues the last few weeks, it seems like it's getting a little worse again. If it continues, I guess we'll have to go see the pedi and see if we need a higher dose. I'm really sad about that, because I was hoping we wouldn't have to be doing the meds at this point. Not only does it look like we won't be able to wean him off them, it also seems like we'll need to add more or try a new one or's not as bad as it was last year by any means, but it's not great either. Sigh. I hope everyone has a great Thanksgiving! I'll spend a little more time catching up when family leaves. Oh...and Rachel turns six on Thanksgiving day! I can't believe my baby is that, time really flies!

I have 3 boys, youngest has gerd, 18 months of no sleep. Prevacid 2x/7.5 mg thinking of switching to prilosec.
Hi Mamas. David waking up all night every 45 minutes to nurse. I am "empty". I can't see what is bothering him. No wet burps- that I notice. But he rubs his mouth & nose throughout the night. Something cute- he calls Thomas the tank engine "minus". (:

Zack born 09/28/07 @ 31 weeks. Dx silent reflux @ 6 mo. Now not so silent. Switched to Elecare @ 9 mo. On Prevacid 15mg 1x daily. Looking to stop the puke and gain some lbs.
Puke stopped about 24 months and he's learning to eat...very slowly.
Still on prevacid and periactin.
Z has started puking least it was only once yesterday. I'm leaning toward an allergy..he has a runny nose, and congestion, but he's not sick...he SOUNDS like he has an allergy...anyway...that's our next move. It was SUCH a nice two weeks. It's amazing how fast you can get used to no puke. *sigh* On the other hand (the more important hand) he's a happy healthy kid that I just hate leaving to come to work. I just want to hang with him...that's how cool he is!

Back from Hospital/productive visit
We had a productive visit to the ER this morning. Hubby and I agreed to wait for shift change because Docs. and nurses are in much better mood and more helpful at the beginning of the shift. We got there about 8AM and just made it home.

Meggy's pain issues have been out of control lately, she holds her head often and cries and cries. We had a CT scan of her head today and it was great. The doc. said NO tumors Woo Hoo. Didn't know we were looking for them, but glad to know they are not a concern.

Then, they sent off for blood and urine cultures. We won't hear back for at least 72 hours. Then, they checked for flu, it was negative. CBC was off slightly on a few things. The metabolic panel was great. There were some very minor abnormalities. So, her nutrition seems to be up to status. Her weight showed at 18 pounds. Finally, someone listened to me and will be running the Lymes Disease test. They are only running 1 of 4 of the test I asked for, but finally. They will also check Vitamin A considering her Medical food Ultracare for kids has a Vitamin A warning. So we don't know anything yet other than good CBC, good Metabolic panel, good head CT.

The most amazing part of all is that she didn't even show one tear until we were about to leave and by then my little one was so exhausted and hungry she couldn't stand herself. She hadn't eaten or drank anything in 16 hours. I felt so bad for her, but she doesn't usually want anything anymore in the middle of the night and once in the ER they don't want them to eat or drink anything till all testing is done.

Whether she gave in to all testing without problem due to her exhaustion or pain or just thinking pain is the norm, I don't know.

I am Jacky, mommy to Joslyn Olivia (April 2008) and Katelyn Isabel (November 2009).
Joslyn was dx'ed with Silent Reflux with breath apnea at 5 days old. VERY SCARY!
Katelyn is a spitter reflux baby. Started at 3 days old as well. (Both were/are breast fed.. symptoms came on when my milk came in).
Joslyn has been reflux free since she was 12 months (suffered poor weight gain for a few months) and Katelyn is now on Zantac... waiting to see if it works.
Joslyn is doing well. We tried to lower her does of Zantac to once a day.... regretted it! She had horrible hiccups, bad wet burbs (which is not too abnormal as she burbs 24/7... but grandpa noticed it this time... so must have been pretty bad) So we are back to 2 times a say. Maybe the end of Dec. we will try it again.

Her teefers are still trying to come out. I wish I could take a pic of her mouth. You can see (and I am not kiddng) every single tooth in her mouth! They are so pretty under the gums, perfectly straight and cute! She had a rough night Sunday night.... gave her Tylenol last night (just once) and she slept ALL night! wahoo for mommy! hehe

I hope all babies (and mommies) get well soon!

ethan's mom
Mom to Ethan, born 4/23/08. Diagnosed with Reflux at about 1 month, started medicating with Zantac, which wasn't helpful for us. At about 2.5 months, we started on Prevacid, twice a day, and that is working much better.
Ethan is breastfed and has a few solids that he is enjoying very much.
I'm sorry to hear that so many are not feeling so good. I'm glad to hear, though that some seem to be doing better.
Ethan is doing good. It seems like the reflux has finally come under control with medicines, though if a dose is late, or forgotten, he is a mess.
MIL is still here, until Sunday, so I haven't been able to post much, but I get a chance to read. She thinks that if I am not cleaning my house while Ethan is asleep, that I am lazy, and makes it known that she feels that way. So I try to appear busy, even though I am pretty comfortable with the cleanliness of my home. (Sorry, a wee little rant)
I hope everyone has a great Thanksgiving!

The GI called and canceled her EDG and will only do the colonoscopy on dec 9th, i don't know why. they said they would call with a reschedule date or might just cancel it altogether who knows.

Audrey is doing well, we haven't checked but it seems like she has gained some weight! still having constipation issues but i am just about done with that GI office so i will talk to the pedi and see what he thinks. well i gotta go catch up on homework even though there is no school this week i am hoping to salvage a low grade to a less low one lol

seamus mama
Seamus was diagnosed with Silent Reflux at 3 weeks. Now he is 14 months, on Prilosec and avoiding dairy, soy, egg. Still nursing. A lot !!!
Hi everybody Seamus and I have had pretty bad colds this week. His reflux flared up in the beginning of the cold, but it seems to have crept away for a spell. Seamus has been sleeping ON me, all 25 pounds, coughing in my face, etc. We are sleeping a bit better now that he is less congested. He is being really picky about food. I dont know if its a toddler thing or a reflux thing, or a combo. He has been doing so many funny things and cracks me up all the time. Its so much better than those first 5 months of living H#@$% !!! I have been an emotional wreck for 2 days now. My hubbie has been working SO hard to make end meet and he has been a total jerk lately. Other stuff is happening..His mom was admitted into a mental hospital for the second time this year, which is really hard for the family. My hubbie has anger management problems so he has been expressing himself by screaming curse words left and right, throwing objects, and slamming doors. I feel like all night I have been nurturing Seamus, then come day time it is papa's turn to complain and freak out. I'm just trying to hold it together and remain positive. I know that times are tough right now, but there are so many wonderful things in our lives that we need to celebrate. My hubbie says he is getting the cold now, and claims that he is not going to join Seamus and me on the 6 HOUR DRIVE to my parents house. I'll go hang out with my family members who want to have fun!

Renee, mother to Nicholas, born 4/18/08 with silent reflux, moderate laryngomalacia, Sandifer's Syndrome& suspected MSPI. On Neocate, Simply Thick and Prevacid. Also mother to Nathan, born 12/06/06, who had mild reflux the first few months.
Nicholas's cold seems to be improving. He is still waking two times a night. He now has four teeth and is working on number five (almost in!). He scoots all over and can crawl up to four steps before flattening out. He is into everything! He and Nathan have been squealing back and forth to one another, which is really cute. He has successfully now eaten beans, peas, squash and sweet potatos. We have switched him back off neocate to neutramigen. He has been on antihistamine and steroid cream for two weeks for his all over body eczema and will have to be off now for one week prior to his scratch testing. Happy Thanksgiving and good health to all!!

Melina 7/24/02 now reflux free!!
Ella 5/3/05 GERD, asthma, hypotonia, food intolerances, esophagitis, IBS //
Ava 5/3/05 asthma, food allergies
Pic: My girls! They are getting so big!
Well, we are sick. I am taking the girls in at 2pm. They only had time to see one of the girls so I had to "pick" which one for them to schedule. I think he will listen to all three though. Just a bit concerned Ava's had gone into pneumonia... she ran 101 last night. So she is the lucky one who gets an appointment. Not that it would take all that much longer to see all three. It's not like when you go in with three you get three times the amount of time spent, LOL. You just pay 3xs as much. Hehehe.

Maggie is now 3 years old and reflux free (knock on wood). I still check in some to see how everybody is doing :) Hugs to all!
Jen, let me know how the visit goes...thinking of y'all.
