Zack born 09/28/07 @ 31 weeks. Dx silent reflux @ 6 mo. Now not so silent. Switched to Elecare @ 9 mo. On Prevacid 15mg 1x daily. Looking to stop the puke and gain some lbs.
Puke stopped about 24 months and he's learning to eat...very slowly.
Still on prevacid and periactin.
does this sound crazy?
Zack is puking gallons...then he goes to the hospital for two days...is home for a day, then we go to Mexico for 7 days...he's home for a week after that and NO puking the whole time...it started again last night. I'm beginning to think that it's an allergy to something in my home...we have a cat and two dogs that have been there the whole time, but I suppose it could be them...do I sound off base here...can an allergy do this? I was thinking the Reglan was a miracle drug, but now I think being away from the house was the cure...I'm really wondering. I'm going to call the GI later to get an allergist reccomendation.

Reglan may still be your miracle drug. IF he went for tha tlong with out any puking he needs his dose upped. Reglan is VERY weight sensitive. I'd get hiim weighed and adjust the dose by the GIs orders. We wer econstanly upping Jedd's dose when he wa son it. Just a thought....

He was on it from about9months to around 12 months. He weighed about 19.5lbs at one year old. He was taking 2.1ml 5x's a day. A high dose, but it worked for him. It was one of those drugs I pryaer we coudl have kept him on....it just caused him extreme irratablity. So we HAD to DX is jsut to save our sanity.

I can't speak for reglan, but I can speak for allergies. I guess if the Reglan had worked for him in the past, it would certainly be worth discussion.

I know Allergies can do all sorts of weird things especially from black mold.

Yes, allergies CAN do a lot of interesting things. I would ask if they think allergy testing might be needed. I agree with Jessica on checking out the dosage... a lot of meds are weight sensitive which can be an issue when kids are in those rapid growth years.
