Elyse and the GI
No more GI visits for SIX MONTHS! We are doing great. Still only having spit up/vomiting every 2-3 weeks for a couple days and then it's gone. Still can't wean from Zantac but he wants us to give it a try every 2 months. Still no milk-like drinks (sad face) and completely weaned from Elecare/bottle!

I need to find a new way to administer Zantac. I was putting it in a bottle with an ounce or less of juice but i would rather completely cut out the bottle (no more washing all those Dr Brown's parts, WHOO-HOO!) I guess I will try in a sippie. Syringing it gets messy bc if she jerks her head it goes everywhere.

She is 22 lbs, 32 inches, and still has a large head but he isn't worried so I am not worried...that's 2 drs not worried and one dr who is (and he is one who doesn't see her very often). Her head is off the charts if you adjust her age for prematurity, and at the 95th if you don't.

i don't know if I have shared with you all that I have Elyse on a supplement called juice plus. It is made from 17 different veggies and fruits and is made in gummie form for kids (like fruit snacks). They are considered a whole food by the FDA because it is just concentrated fruit and veggies. it is meant to fill the nutritional gap for kids who don't get enough fruit and vegs. She LOVES them. They are sold by consultants though and I can't find them on the web. They seem to only sell the adult version on the web. So she takes those, a calcium supplement, her rx multivit, and we continue to offer healthy stuff though a lot gets thrown out!

DS #1 (7/05) - Just ReDX'd Refluxer! Prevacid Solutab starting 4/8/09. Lots of food and environmental allergies. Autism, Sensory Processing Disorder, Speech Delays, Developmental Delays, Severe Muscle Tone Weakness.
DS #2 (1/08) ReDX'd refluxer. Milk and soy allergies with Soy Lecithin allergies. Oat milk drinker, Rice protein powder, DHA, and vitamins added for bulk and needed nutrition. Weak muscle tone, slightly developmentally delayed, SPD confirmed.
Good news baby girl!!!!!!! I love these kinds of updates on our kiddos. For the meds, they have some neat dosers that are basically just a little cup (tiny cup) with a nipple attached. You put the meds in the cup, twist the nipple on and let them suck it down. It's big enough that you could add a little something to it if you wanted (juice, whatever). But it would be a LOT easier to clean thana Dr. Brown's bottle. Just an idea if you are on the hunt for one. They sell them at Walmart, Target and Babies R Us.

seamus mama
Seamus was diagnosed with Silent Reflux at 3 weeks. Now he is 14 months, on Prilosec and avoiding dairy, soy, egg. Still nursing. A lot !!!
I gave Seamus his Zantac mixed with a tablespoon of pureed pear..After a while he wouldnt eat it, so I had the pharmacist switch the flavor of Zantac from mint to grape. He agreed with the grape Zantac mixed with pureed pear. We are doing Prilosec now, mixed in pear and its going allright. hope that helps!

i will look into those juice plus things they sound interesting. if it means anything elyse looks like her head is always proportionate... so i hoe it's not too much to worry about. i second trying those bottles that administer meds hopefully they will work. until a month ago i gave emily her mirilax in a bottle- even though she would no longer take bottles for anything other then juice, so i doubt it is much of a set back.
Check with your
doctor first!
