Red circles under eyes-OT
So, Rory had viral conjunctivitis starting on Nov.6. The doctor said it can last up to two weeks, and today it is exactly two weeks. The eye goop has been gone for 4 or 5 days, but she still has HUGE red circles under her eyes. Is this part of the conjunctivitis? Should her eyes still be red underneath? I've read that this can also be a sign of allergies or iron deficiency. She's not on formula anymore, so she's not getting as much iron. I have an appt on the 26th to get an allergy referral for her, because of the months of mouth-breathing and the pot belly. I'm probably jumping the gun on the red eyes though, right? I've never noticed it before the pinkeye. It's just that the pink eye and coming off formula happened around the same time. It would take much longer than 2 weeks to develop an iron defiency, wouldn't it? Anyway, she's acting okay, but she looks like a zombie!! It's disturbing :(

Yep, red or dark circles can definitely be an allergy sign. Max's eyes permanently have this look. I don't know much about iron deficiency, but they can easily test with a finger prick.

2 healthy daughters (knock wood) Cory (16), Kim (11) & Eric (4) diagnosed with e.e. (scoped 8/08), GERD & severe food/seasonal allergies, asthma. Cried non-stop first 17 mths. of life Found out he is allergic to cow's milk, soy, eggs, and peanuts. Takes Prevacid, Neocate One Plus & Flovent.
Eric has lots of eye trouble. In the spring he had a terrible case of allergic conjuctivitis. Anyway, he always has red or purple circles under his eyes. In his case, it is definately allergies. Lately, he has developed pink irritated eyelids. I have to take him to the derm. to figure that one out. Ellen

Well, wouldn't you know it, now she is making me wonder!!! Last night, both eyes looked like red circles, but now today, one eye in particular has raised red patches underneath, and it is spreading down her cheek! It looks like some sort of skin irritation or infection. Ugh.
