Thanks ladies!
I just wanted to thank everyone who stopped by my post last night. We just got back from the clinic, and the dr there says we should ask to be referred for allergy testing, esp. seasonal allergies, since we know she has been holding her breath since at least Spring. She listened to her breathing and said she's not breathing through her nose, most likely from congestion. She agrees a cold should not last this long. We are giving her saline drops 3 times a day hoping that will help her out in the meantime, until we get the referral from our GP. I don't want it to be allergies, but she's been breathing funky for too long, and there is a's not just "her", and not just a cold. If it is allergies, we can manage those.....the alternatives of her having heart, lung, or anatomical problems from her pectus are much more scary. She also said that in her opinion, Rory is not having such breathing difficulty that it would cause her to burn calories....what she said was, "she's only holding her breath for a few seconds, that's not long enough". Which is good, but it means her weight is slipping because we said bye-bye to formula and haven't turned the corner on healthy milk drinking yet. Oh, and we got new drops for her eyes....erythromycin ointment. Crossing fingers it works before morning so we can go back to work and daycare. Thanks for your help ladies!

Maggie is now 3 years old and reflux free (knock on wood). I still check in some to see how everybody is doing :) Hugs to all!
I'm so glad you got some info and progress. I'm with Kat, I wonder if you could see if benadryl helps. I wouldn't do it without asking the doc though.

Jessica, Mommy to Jedd, severe reflux, severe food and oral aversions, Finally G tube free!!! VSD repair 4-24-07 (open heart surgery), hypospadias, repaired 3 times and Ear tubes Visit Jedd at his CB site:
I was gonna mention Benadryl as well. Our pedi told us that if the child clears up with Benedryl then it's seasonal allergies and she does an RX for an allergy med. Actually Jedd is OTC so all I hav eto do is pick it up when he runs out.

Jedd's must be pretty bad as well, I have tried to wean him 2x's and niether time was very pretty.

And yes, it's like a really bad cold, snotty, runny and coughing and's awful.

Check with your
doctor first!
