Rough Weekend
I almost posted Friday night(saturday morning) but I thought things were getting better and it was just a bad reflux night. Not the case. I got about 3 hours of sleep on Friday night. A was up most of the night. Well, I was up more than her. She had several apnea episodes and I kept having to go stimulate her. Got better sleep for both of us when she was sleeping on my lap in the chair. Not comfortable but at least I could wake her easier when she stopped breathing.

I went shopping with my mom for my bday yesterday and she was cranky and wheezing all day. DH had her and he kept giving her breathing treatments. When I got home she was in bed and stayed there all night. She was restless all night. Woke around 6am, blue. She had green snot everywhere. So, this is what our sunday has been like. She has enough snot for everyone in the house and then some. She is currently purple on her lips and wheezing. That is after 3 breathing treatments today. I think it is just a cold but with her it is hardly ever just a cold. I am going to take her into the bathroom with the steam and then think about taking her to the minor emergency or the ER depending on how things are going. Please keep us in your prayers. -Amanda

Amanda,

I am sorry to hear that you have had such a rough weekend. I am sorry your LO is not feeling well. I hope that she will feel better soon.

Do you have a stethoscope to listen and make sure her lungs are clear? I hope that it is just a cold, but I hope u will go have her checked out just to make sure! It reminds me of when I get pneumonia.

I am Jacky, mommy to Joslyn Olivia (April 2008) and Katelyn Isabel (November 2009).
Joslyn was dx'ed with Silent Reflux with breath apnea at 5 days old. VERY SCARY!
Katelyn is a spitter reflux baby. Started at 3 days old as well. (Both were/are breast fed.. symptoms came on when my milk came in).
Joslyn has been reflux free since she was 12 months (suffered poor weight gain for a few months) and Katelyn is now on Zantac... waiting to see if it works.
omg!!!!! I know the blue look. It is horrific! I do hope she is doing better.... Hve you gone to the ER yet?

The steam helped a little. She is sleeping restlessly right now. The blue episodes have subsided for now. Since she gets them often I try not to overreact with them. I know this is going to be a long night and the last time she was acting like this we did end up in the ER with pneumonia and a second strain of RSV. We were there for 3 weeks. I'm praying that is not what this is leading to. If we make it through the night we will be visiting the ped in the morning.

I have to go and read bed time stories to Morgan and get her in bed before it gets too late. Thanks for your thoughts and prayers ladies. -Amanda

Well, we did piggyback breathing treatments around 11:30 and her lungs sounded a little better. She didn't have any seizures this time, yeah! After over an hour of tylenol the fever had actually gone up so I consider the fact that she didn't seize a miracle. I think it climbed over 102 with tylenol and motrin.

She is still purple this morning and neither of us slept good. She isn't as lethargic this morning and is actually running around playing, even with a bit of a fever. We will be heading to the ped as soon as she can get us in. I am actually all ready in case they can get us right in this morning. Thanks for the prayers. It looks like it worked.

Sorry to hear about your weekend. That was us last week. Eric never gets just a cold with his asthma. He actually puked up snot - the mucus production is crazy. We had him on oral steriods, antibiotic (his ears/throat were red), & nebulizer every three hours. Plus, the Prevacid, of course. Hope she's over the worst of it by now. Ellen
