My previous drivers license was also stolen. The new one has extra security features on it.
Aloe vera is a very bitter thing. I don't know if it works, as we used it for our daughter some time ago. We were told by a chiro. to try it when conventional med. was not working. My daughter seemed to do a little better on it, but considering how aweful it taste, she stopped drinking it.

It is not for calories, but rather for helping resolve the reflux. It comes in a jug at W.M. in the pharmacy section for about $8

Also, what other prescription or over the counter meds have u tried for him? He may not be getting along with his antacid.

What time of day does he take his meds? Is he good about sticking to the time limits set. I think at least taking it 30 min. prior to a meal.

It is prescription, but carafate is a miracle worker for Meggy at times. It coats her throat and stomach. With that it has to be taken at least two hours after any meal and at least one hour before any meal. So, u have to have 3 hours to spare in between.

Also, Meggy takes Levsin, which is for spasms, but it helps things move faster through the system as well.

Sometimes their system just cannot handle dairy. The signs are not always obvious and sometimes it is an accumalitive affect. Meaning the more dairy he has and the longer he has it, the more it hurts him. I am not saying this is the case, just a possibility.

I know at that age he would give u a very hard time with it, but have u tried an elimination diet? Instead of taking everything away, u could take one thing (for instance dairy) out of his diet at a time. Trial it that way for at least 3 weeks to see if there is any relief.

I wish I had a good answer for you. All of this is just speculation and needs to be ran by a physician. My biggest suggestion is to began to keep a food diary of everything he consumes including food, drink, chewing gum, meds. Along with the diary, start keeping notes of what kind of mood he is in, if he is reporting pain, where the pain is, ect.

Hope something in this long message is somewhat helpful.

2 healthy daughters (knock wood) Cory (16), Kim (11) & Eric (4) diagnosed with e.e. (scoped 8/08), GERD & severe food/seasonal allergies, asthma. Cried non-stop first 17 mths. of life Found out he is allergic to cow's milk, soy, eggs, and peanuts. Takes Prevacid, Neocate One Plus & Flovent.
Hi. My son is only 2 1/2 but also had e.e. & many food allergies. We are now in the process of figuring out (& managing) the e.e. at Children's Hospital in Phila. We have done scratch & blood testing (RAST) but next comes the patch testing (to look for delayed onset food allergies). Have you done this with your older son? How do you manage his e.e.? As far as your younger son, odds are that he may very well have some type of food allergies. From what I have read, 50% of GERD kids have an undiagnosed milk allergy. As far as the Pediasure causing loose stools & stomach discomfort, that may very be symptoms of a milk allergy. To be honest, I don't know of any product that keeps the weight on them & is virtually allergy free except Neocate (which is very expensive). You can buy it online. Our insurance covers half. I use this in place of milk. An older child may not love the taste. Could you try some type of an elimanation diet with your son to see if you could get some improvements with his symptoms. Maybe remove milk completely for a week or two. You may need to cook more & buy an allergy free cookbook (if you don't already have one). Have you ever seen the site kidswithfoodallergies.org.? I highly recommend it, if not. The support forums include e.e., reflux, food allergies, intolerances, etc. Does your younger son have seasonal/environmental allergies or asthma? 12 eos. is getting boardline from reflux to e.e. from my understanding. Do you deal with a Children's Hospital for allergy & e.e.? I had horrible experiences with local allergists, pediatricans, & even G.I. Make sure you find the best hospital/Drs. & take him there. His not wanting to eat, weight loss, etc. are worrisome. If it takes awhile to get in to a really good place, maybe ask a local allergist to do some scratch testing for the top 8 food offenders (dairy, egg, soy, wheat, peanut, shellfish, etc.) plus anything else you think he may have a problem with. It would be a starting point, just keep in mind that the delayed onset type of food allergies won't show. I hope you get to the bottom of this soon & that your son gets some relief. Ellen

Hi Amanda. I, too, am surprised that they never suggested allergy testing for your younger son until now. Hopefully, it will shed some light on what is going on. By the way, Neocate must be around $67. a box (which is only ten packets). Each packet makes two 8 oz. bottles for us. Our insurance pays half - so we average $99. a mth. I would hold off until you get the testing done & talk to the GI & allergy depts. I was just concerned that the Pedisure (which I'm sure is mostly cow's milk, right?) may be making things worse. If you need advice or just more info. on allergies and elimanation diets the best book I have seen at the library is called "Is this Your Child?" by Dr. Rapp (pretty sure that name is correct). Let us know how your boys are doing, & take care. Ellen
