Thanks for your reply on my neocate post. Can you tell me more on your situation with your DC? Do you think when you switched formulas and DC did great, that it meant the MSPI? That is what we are doing right now and I am on pins and needles hoping this relief for my daughter lasts. We are on day 3 of the neocate...I think we have to wait to day 7 for us to really see if it is MSPI or not...usually, that is when the honeymoon ends. Thanks!

Adriane Reese 05/16/07; seemingly healthy when born; diagnosed with MSPI, severe Reflux, Apnea, Ashtma, Epilepsy, and severe food allergies(rice, corn, milk, soy, eggs, oats, wheat, beef, chicken, squash, pumpkin, avocado, etc.);On apnea monitor, seems to be tolerating RCF w/carbohydrate mixed in; on Zyrtec, Xopenex, Prevacid
Adriane was dx with MSPI at 6 weeks old. The docs just kept saying that it was the relfux. Then when she got so bad that she couldn't keep anything down, they thought it was pyloric stenosus, she even projectile vomitted on the ultrasound tech after not having anything all morning, she got so dehydrated and we took her to the ER. She had gone from over 8 lbs at birth to under 5 pounds. She would be okay on a formula for about 5 days and then it would start again. You could hear her little stomach cramping and gurgling straight time. Even when she wasn't eating. She finally stopped taking food by mouth and we had to rest and only IV fluids for 2 days. Then we did an NG tube with neocate and she did better. Sometimes their tummies get so torn up that no matter if the formula would normally work or not they can't handle it. If you think that is the case or you see the same pattern call her GI. If you have one. I think at that point they need to be involved. With most kids, after they get their belly healed they can tolerate neocate. I hope this is the case. We tolerated it for a while and then grew intolerant to it. We are on last resort and hoping to not have to TPN. That is really bad on their kidneys and we have avoided it for 18 months. I know this is really long and if you would like to email with any questions please feel free. amandawhite@clevelandtigers.com

I have to travel 2.5 hours to a high school fb game tonight but I will probably check my email when I get home. Otherwise, I will talk to you on hear later. -Amanda

Your poor little one! I hope you do not have to TPN either. What do you think is in the neocate that she does not tolerate? Bless her heart. Your MSPI symptoms sound just like my lo's. Thanks for sharing. Have fun at the game!!
