Julie - I have three children. My youngest Katie is my refluxer. My first Ben was very colicy and is ADHD. My middle Jakob is pretty easy going. Katie had it bad as a baby no sleep for two years. She was on Nutramagin, Prevacid and Zantac. Thought we were through it but after age three it came back big time. After her scope she was put on Prevacid 45mg a day and mylanta as needed. Scope was in Sept. Showed damage in stomach and espophogus. It took about 7 months of medication and Reflux diet for her to start feeling better.
jen rackley/or anyone on healing tummies
HI there. Not sure if you will catch this post but I have been wanting to ask you a question. When you finally figured out that your oldest daughter had damage inside how long did it take once you started the meds for her to heal completely.

Katie is definitely better but she still gets bad stomach aches on some days. Usually if she doesn't eat a good three meals with snacks.

SHe is going to be on 45mg prevacid for 4 months. Do you think it will take a while before she doesn't have stomach aches now and then or does the healing take place very quickly.

My son had severe damage including uclers in both esphoagus and stomach and it took a couple months before he felt better from all that damage. I will say he was on a high dose of Prevacid too for a while and it gave him stomachaches so it might just be that she is nauseous from the Prevacid. You could always ask for some Carafate to help the damage heal faster. We used it for a month after finding out and it really made a difference and helped him feel better while waiting for the new meds to kick in.

Thanks for the reassurance. My doc seems to skirt the idea of Carafate. I wonder why? Everyone on this board seems to love it.
