Update on Meggy/Positive
On a Positive Note:

Today we saw the pulmonologist and he appears promising. We are going to schedule a sleep study for Meggy. We are going to ask John Hopkins to have a bronchoscopy along with the endoscopy and colonoscopy.

He did not want to subject Meggy to it now, but said if all else fails with this scheduled visit, he can get us set up for a new swallow study checking her swallow mechanisms with different consistencies. He said it is not a pleasant experience and he doesn't want to subject her to it if we don't have too. He also said when we do that, we will get a feeding specialist involved.

He seemed to listen, to really listen to what we had to say and to give us a plan of action just like John Hopkins did. He is also willing to work with John Hopkins and have any testing referred there that is possible. He was thrilled that we have already gotten her established there.

We have an 18 month check-up tomorrow and will know her current weight, but could be promising.

Meridith
Mom to Ethan, born 4/23/08. Diagnosed with Reflux at about 1 month, started medicating with Zantac, which wasn't helpful for us. At about 2.5 months, we started on Prevacid, twice a day, and that is working much better.
Ethan is breastfed and has a few solids that he is enjoying very much.
Boy, I am glad that you had a positive visit today. It sounds like he is taking your concerns seriously, and is interested in helping to figure out what is going on.

I'll be praying that tomorrow's check-up is equally as positive!

Julie - I have three children. My youngest Katie is my refluxer. My first Ben was very colicy and is ADHD. My middle Jakob is pretty easy going. Katie had it bad as a baby no sleep for two years. She was on Nutramagin, Prevacid and Zantac. Thought we were through it but after age three it came back big time. After her scope she was put on Prevacid 45mg a day and mylanta as needed. Scope was in Sept. Showed damage in stomach and espophogus. It took about 7 months of medication and Reflux diet for her to start feeling better.
I am so happy you had a good appt. You must feel much better now.
Check with your
doctor first!
