What are you eating while BF your relux baby?
Ok, so what exactly are you eating while you are breastfeeding your relux baby? I have completely eliminated milk, eggs, any dairy incl cheese etc. Now will my nutrition and health suffer so that I can't take care of the baby? Should I elimiated BF all together? I am actually supplementing as we had latching problems in the beginning..hmmm delimmas..just want my LO to feel better. Hugs.

Mary & Nicholas 7-17-03 (non-refluxer)allergies, asthma on Singulair and Flovent & Aidan 1-28-07(my refluxer)Nissen Fundoplication on June 20, 2008, FTT, MSPI, DGE, ear tubes, allergies and severe GERD now currently taking just Prevacid and drinking Elecare Vanilla 1+.
I ate a lot of turkey, chicken, fruit, veggies, and water. It can be done. I wasn't as strong as some others on here and only made it to 14 weeks before I went crazy. I would highly encourage you to eliminate soy products as well as milk products as it seems that so many refluxers have Milk and soy intolerances. Only you can decide what works best for your baby and your family.

I drink water and water and nothing but water. The only thing I have found that I can not eat is oranges or orange juice. Did you eliminate the foods all together? or did you do it in stages? Joslyn was born "tight mouthed" and could not suck. She gets 2 bottles of bm a day and the rest she nurses. I think it will be hard either way. If you can maybe pump if your lo is having a hard time latching.

I have 3 boys, youngest has gerd, 18 months of no sleep. Prevacid 2x/7.5 mg thinking of switching to prilosec.
After you've been off dairy for a while you can try reintroducing it slowly. I was able to go back to dairy by 10 months. I ate lots of meat. When I found something I liked that didn't hurt him I indulged! Kettle corn was my treat. Sorry your LO is hurting. Hang in there.

There is no need to eliminate breastfeeding altogether, even if you are supplementing. The elimination diet is a challenge, but remember that it doesn't last forever. You may even be able to add most of what you have eliminated back into your diet while you are still breastfeeding -- after your baby's digestive system has a chance to mature a bit. It may even be a good time to get in the habit of healthier eating habits -- which is what happened for me, first when I had gestational diabetes, and then again with the elimination diet. Best wishes, and hang in there -- it really is worth it to keep breastfeeding if it is an option!
