Mom to Eddie 1/07 and Nicholas 6/08. Eddie allergic and refluxer now on cow's milk!!!! Nicholas also a refluxer on prevacid and breast milk. Mom on elimination diet AGAIN!!
??? and Update from lanymama
Hi all it has been a long tome, Nicholas is now 4 months!!! He is such a big boy he weighs 18.5 lbs already. He also has reflux and is on 15mg prevacis in the am and 1 ml of Zantac in the pm. He is a really good baby, and is usually very chill (so different from Eddie) he does though vomit a lot!! i have a question of course about Eddie. He keeps on getting a really bad diaper rash. He is pooping like 4 times a day, this is my question the only changes have been I started giving him oatmeal and cream of wheat. He is now on a dairy free diet again (rice milk) after 2 months of bronchialitis. Do you all think it could be the oatmeal or wheat? ANy remedies that help, the md gave us vusion and it works but is so $$$$$$. I hope all is well with you all miss you guys. :O)E

HI ELAINE!! It is so good to hear from you! How, I cannot believe your 4 month old is only a pound lighter than my 19 1/2 month old! HOLY SMOKES! That is a feat considering he is a puker (which, btw, totally sucks and I'm really sorry). I'm glad he is a good baby, though. Ror was too. Poor Eddie, though :( I can't imagine it's the oatmeal, but if he has/had milk allergy, could he possibly have wheat intolerance? Hmmmm. 4 poops a day, are they soft or hard? Rory has become a pooping machine too, and hers is usually sticky. I STILL use the newborn sensitive wipes on her bottom. Do you use wipes or a cloth? Does it seem like a yeasty rash or a burnt bum rash? Was he on meds for the bronchiolitis? You would probably know better than me what works in the cream department. I usually use penaten when hers gets badly burnt, and when it's bumpy I use canesten. I SWEAR by vaseline too. It's the best barrier IMO. Is he still on reflux medication? Eating or drinking anything acidic? My best guess is that it's not the oatmeal or cream of wheat, but maybe that is making him poop more, which in turn is making his bottom sore? I hope you can get it cleared up soon. Take care, Elaine. I have been wondering how you and the kiddies were doing. HUGS.

i think about you guys so often! i'm glad to hear from you :) :) nicholas has got my little audrey beat shes about 12 lbs now! I am sorry he's a pucker but his personality seems just like audrey; very chill lol

i second that it could be the antbs or meds for bronchitics and i also HIGHLY recommend vasiline it's the best imo.

how long have you been doing oatmeal and creme of wheat? if he has never had problems with oatmeal or wheat before i doubt that it is causing his rash. Also oatmeal can sometime move things though his system really quickly; meaning acid too. I don't know how long it would take a diaper rash to show up from a food intolerance though- for emily it's the first day. i've heard from others that it can be as long as two weeks.

If vusion works though, it's a yeast infection so i don't know if maybe the food intolerance is fist cause and yeat infection is making it worse? try no oatmeal or wheat for 2 weeks then give it to him and see what happens??

i am so glad you are doing well!!
