PICTURE: Aubrey in her cute cat outfit. If you look you can see how her right foot turns in. She walks that way as well. It is not as exaggerated in the morning's but gets worse in the evenings. This was after her nap.
Anal Strep??
Aubrey had her GI checkup today. She weighed in at 25lbs and it 31.5in tall (that was measured standing up). The GI was concerned about her drop in stats on the chart, but since she is eating a ton we will recheck in a couple months.

I asked about her still being sensitive to processed foods but she said her system may just be a little slow. She did think Aubrey would out grow it tho. I told her even tho hot dogs or lunch meat give her diahrrea I still give them to her. She said it isn't causing any damage. Whew. That was my worry.

I also showed the doctor her hiney which has been red around her rectum for quite some time and bumps in random places that I can not get rid of. The GI said there is a thing called Anal Strep (other words in the middle of those that I could not pronounce) so a culture was done and she will let me know the results.

All and all it was a good visit. I am so SLOWLY start introing things cooked with milk and see how it goes. Wish us luck!

Never heard of anal strep. But I guess you can have infections anywhere. Let us know how the culture comes back and good luck with the intro of dairy

ethan's mom
Mom to Ethan, born 4/23/08. Diagnosed with Reflux at about 1 month, started medicating with Zantac, which wasn't helpful for us. At about 2.5 months, we started on Prevacid, twice a day, and that is working much better.
Ethan is breastfed and has a few solids that he is enjoying very much.
Good luck with the dairy intro. Definitely let us know about this anal strep thing. Hopefully its an easy fix if it is that. :)

Holy cow Nolan weighs more then Aubrey and is a 1/4 inch taller. Wow. Looking at pics I never would have thought that.

My oldest had something that sounds kind of like what she has with the Anal strep. I was told to mix hydrocortizone cream and lotrimn(sp?)athletes foot cream and it went away really fast. I hope Aubreys hiney feels better soon.

Good luck with the milk.

hmmmm.....Rory also has a red ring around her rectum....omg, say that ten times fast....hehehe....anyway, I'm interested to hear what the results say. I'll have to bring this up with her doctor. I had assumed it was red from whatever she is eating, and being off prevacid. I thought it might be "acid bum". Well, this post is full of nice terms, huh? I hope you find out what it is to get it cleared up. Does it seem to bother her at all? Good luck with the milk intro too!!

This article is'll have to scan through to find the relevant parts. I thought this was interesting bc it says "gastric acid in a healthy host eliminates most....". I guess Aubrey has little or no gastric acid, right?! So I guess kids on reflux meds would be more likely to get it.

It also says in the article that it's passed through communal bathing!

Children with streptococcal pharyngitis have a 6 percent anal carriage rate.5 It is thought that gastric acid in a healthy host eliminates most of the swallowed pharyngeal bacteria; therefore, other sources of transmission are likely. Digital contamination from an infected oropharynx or other sites of streptococcal infection (i.e., impetigo) may be the source.
