Zack born 09/28/07 @ 31 weeks. Dx silent reflux @ 6 mo. Now not so silent. Switched to Elecare @ 9 mo. On Prevacid 15mg 1x daily. Looking to stop the puke and gain some lbs.
Puke stopped about 24 months and he's learning to eat...very slowly.
Still on prevacid and periactin.
For those few that had SUCCESS with Reglan
How long did it take to see the effect? Was it immediate? Z has been on it for two full days and he's still puking his little guts out. He does seem hungrier, but I thought it would help the vomit. I'm watching this poor kid like a hawk...I'm seeing side effects where there probably are none. He was a pretty easy going baby all weekend, except for the puking, of course. Slept great, but I have to redose the Reglan almost every time, b/c he pukes it up immediately! I follow it with a sip of 7up (yeah I know, but it WORKS) and it will mostly stay down.

Kathryn, Pager Volunteer and mommy to Emily Mia 02/04/07. 3 years old with GERD. 30mg Prevacid and Pepcid AC. Mylanta needed for flares. Failed prilosec med switch. Tried and failed many med weans but GERD and pain are well controlled. Functional constipation. Reoccurring SBBO. Suspected IBD or autoimmune disease. Resolved issues: MSPI, CSID (acquired), Stage 2 kidney reflux, Chronic diarrhea.
Audrey Meadow 06/20/08. born 34/35 weeks. Still b/f and eats everything! ftt and chronic constipation.
even though emi had side effects from reglan (constant screaming and jerky movements) the reglan seemed to work right away. She was not a puker though, she has silent reflux and was chocking on it b/c her DGE was bad. anyway for the whole week she was on it we didn't see her chock or spit up at all. after we took her off it, back to her usual, chocking and eating so much, self.

baby quinn's mommy
Mom to a 3 year old baby girl with severe reflux: g-tube, nissen fundoplication. dx: RAD, failure to thrive, DGE, epilepsy, sleep apnea, paraesohphogeal hernia, high lactic acid there's more "unknown disease"... Hospitalized 12 times, PT graduate! ST graduate! OT graduate! Current Meds: singulair, zopeonex, pulmicort, reglan, Keppra, Trileptal, vitamin B6, Veramyst. Current weight: 34 lb. Current height: 39". g-tube dependent, oxygen 1-2LpM all day and night PIC: Ms. Quinn
For Quinn, her reflux was so severe that she still puked on the reglan. But I did notice a bit of a change when she did have the reglan. She was put on it when she was in the NICU so she was quite a bit younger. she has been on it ever since and it helps move the food along. I think it can take up to two weeks to see any differences. We noticed changes in her stomach more. Since reglan is a motility drug, it is used to push food through the stomach quicker, so her tummy wasn't so distended from too much food, which helped her to not puke as much, but she still puked a lot.

Mom to Charlie - cleft palate and reflux. Meds - zantac, prevacid, mylanta and reglan.
It took Charlie about a week to get results. He definitely still spits up but not in volume unless it is shortly after a feed has finished. Rarely is there a big spit up 2 hrs after a feed. But that used to happen often before reglan.

This is our dd, Alessandra. Dx with GER 10/07. Ran the gamut with meds and now done with them (crossed fingers). Using magnesium, probiotics and prebiotic supplements. With the exception of teething and general sassy attitude, all is well now. They really CAN grow out of it!
We had success with the reglan for the 4 days she was on it - noticibly less vomit within the first couple doses. She just went weird so we had to DC it.

Jessica, Mommy to Jedd, severe reflux, severe food and oral aversions, Finally G tube free!!! VSD repair 4-24-07 (open heart surgery), hypospadias, repaired 3 times and Ear tubes Visit Jedd at his CB site:
Have you tasted the Reglan??? Out smelled and tasted nasty....eeewwwwww

That may be why he is pukin gwhen you give it to him. I would mix it like you said with a little of something to mask the taste.

We saw great success with REglan but DXed it due to extreme crankiness. That was one med. I wish we had been able to keep. It worked great for Jedd.

Ihope you can get it to stay down. I really think it's the taste, that stuf was pretty nasty.

Check with your
doctor first!
