Elyse updateWell, add us to the list of failed med weans...we thought she might be ready to go off her zantac (she is already down to one dose a day, wahoo!) but today was day 3 and she spit up twice and then all out vomited! I was not home, I was off running a 5K for breast cancer awareness so DH got to take care of it (hehe). He went ahead and gave her a dose of Zantac a little while after, then 30 minutes later she wanted to EAT! and now seems much better.
Still won't drink milk or anything like it, and only about 3 oz of her elecare a day (yes, THREE), so we now have her on a calcium supplement which she LOVES. It is a chewable one that is vanilla ice cream flavored and I break it up in tiny pieces and she sucks them and asks for more!
I also started her on juice plus gummies...have you heard of them? They are like fruit snacks, but made from 17 different fruits and veggies. They are considered a "whole food" by the FDA, not a vitamin, so she also takes her rx multi along with them. They are rather expensive but we have heard great things about them and Dr Sears promotes them too. You have to buy them from a consultant, they are not sold in stores, but i bet you could get them online too. but I feel good knowing that she is getting calcium now, and the extra nutrition from the gummies.

|oh, I'm sorry to hear the wean didn't go well, but at least you tried, right? The little stinker, not drinking her formula or milk. She's strongwilled, isn't she? lol. Well, at least she is taking the vitamins and fruit snacks and wanting to eat. I'm gonna search for those gummies online. I wonder if they ship to Canada? I'm going to start Rory on a vitamin as soon as we get her off formula all the way. I don't think she'd to a liquid or chewable though, hard to say. She stopped taking her prevacid. She'd know it was good for her and spit it out, no doubt. lol. Hugs to Elyse and you.|

Tracey, mom to Katie. Diagnosed with reflux at 3 weeks and put on Zantac. At 8 months old she was removed from Zantac as it was giving her migraines, currently on Prevacid. Switched to Elecare since she is not gaining weight; trialing solids after being off for a month. Geneticist said reason she isn't gaining weight is she is stubborn. Upcoming appts.: Neurologist for developmental delay and EGD scheduled for September. She is one funny baby!
|Sorry! I've read that rice milk with flax oil can be subsituted but I bet she wouldn't drink that either?|
