Eczema? opinions and thoughts
This is the "eczema" on Maggie's feet I talk about. Do y'all think it's eczema? I just don't understand why it comes back so bad when we use steroid cream (elidel) and eucerin every day. I use the mildest soap that we've used on Morgan for 9yrs, I use all free & clear laundry products, etc. It just makes me wonder. Any thoughts?

Zack born 09/28/07 @ 31 weeks. Dx silent reflux @ 6 mo. Now not so silent. Switched to Elecare @ 9 mo. On Prevacid 15mg 1x daily. Looking to stop the puke and gain some lbs.
Puke stopped about 24 months and he's learning to eat...very slowly.
Still on prevacid and periactin.
It looks like it to me and Zack gets it on his feet a lot...I'm thinking it's because his feet are exposed more than any other part of him...he gets it on his wrists, too..probably from crawling on carpet at daycare...the rest of him is covered, so it's very mild...but that definitely looks like excema to me.

Tried and failed many med weans but GERD and pain are well controlled. Functional constipation. Reoccurring SBBO. Suspected IBD or autoimmune disease. Resolved issues: MSPI, CSID (acquired), Stage 2 kidney reflux, Chronic diarrhea.
Audrey Meadow 06/20/08. born 34/35 weeks. Still b/f and eats everything! ftt and chronic constipation.
it looks like what was all over audrey that the dr said was eczema. we do all the same things as you are doing but it still keeps coming and going with no rhyme or reason. I wonder if it's something in her shoes that might be irritating it?

lol, the girl hardly wears shoes. I thought over the summer it was prob the grass irritating it, but now she does at least wear shoes in the yard. I guess it's just something to deal with. :( It just made me wonder bc Morgan's only flares in the dead of winter.

Renee, mother to Nicholas, born 4/18/08 with silent reflux, moderate laryngomalacia, Sandifer's Syndrome& suspected MSPI. On Neocate, Simply Thick and Prevacid. Also mother to Nathan, born 12/06/06, who had mild reflux the first few months.
Nicholas seems to have it all over his body. The cortisone and aquaphor help, but if I stop the cortisone it returns like a monster. We too wash evreything in the free and clear and use the aquaphor wash. It's very frustrating!

Yeah it is. Like I said, with Morgan's as long as we're good about putting on the meds. she's fine but for some reason Maggie's just hangs around. It might go away for a day if we're lucky.

Melissa - Mommy to Sebastian, born 9/28/07 @ 7 lbs 7 oz and 20.75 in. At docs at 12 months: 27 pounds and 32 in! Good grief! GERD - currently on Prevacid suspension (liquid equivalent of 45 mg a day). Allergic to dairy, soy, eggs, wheat, all treenuts, peanuts, fish, shellfish, peas, sesame, bananas, barley, coconut, dust, dust mite, dog, cat, latex. Seasonal allergies. Oral Allergy Syndrome (OAS). Neocate only - no solids - until further notice (drinks and loves water, too). Loves his doggie, our rescued Treeing Walker Coonhound, Louise, even though he is allergic to her. Louise will make your doctor a homemade pie if you would like her to. PHOTO: We couldn't do a cake on Sebastian's birthday, but that didn't stop him from tossing around the contents of a big bowl of popcorn! He now tries to eat it when we play with popcorn, so no more of that game.... :(
My husband and I just looked at this together. We both think it looks like eczema. Are there certain times of day or the year when it is worse than others? But my husband is allergic to grass, and he gets a bad rash like that after rolling around on the lawn. It lasts for a day or so. Does MAgs' come and go like that? I saw that you thought it was from being barefoot in the summer but that she is wearing shoes outside now...

Yeah, Melissa, I just thought maybe it was grass but now she wears shoes outside so that's prob not it. She's had it for at least the last year. It stays like that. It gets a slight bit better when we use Morgan's steroid cream, but it comes right back.

TWINS:
Ella 5/3/05 GERD, asthma, hypotonia, food intolerances, esophagitis, IBS //
Ava 5/3/05 asthma, food allergies
Pic: My girls! They are getting so big!
That's what Ava looked like. My sister also had a nickel allergy so buckles (say from sandles or belts) etc left her with a similar looking rash. Ava's pic is posted in the pics on FB GI page. ;) I'll tag you so you can see it.

Oh... wool can do it too... not that she has been wearing that lately but it could be that several different things are acting as triggers.... Just some thoughts.

Mom to Ian, 3/1/07
Used Zantac - 1.0 ml twice a day
Weaned at 1 year
Back on Zantac at 15 months
Could be the carpet at daycare. I read that dust mites in carpet are one of the leading causes. We took the carpet out of our house and voila! Eczema was gone for good..... also, Johnson's soothing naturals cream helped a little....
Check with your
doctor first!
