ethan's mom
Meridith, mom to Ethan born 4/23/08. Ethan was diagnosed with reflux at about 1 month. He has been on Zantac (unsuccessful) and Prevacid. He is currently taking 7.5 mg of Prevacid 2x per day, with good results. We also suspect MPI, though this hasn't been confirmed by a doctor yet.
Ethan is mostly breastfed, though we are doing one bottle of soy formula each day. We also do some homeade "solids' including, so far pears, avocado, sweet potato, and peaches.

I don't have any advice on Reglan, or AR formula, but I can tell you that you should definitely fill out LOA paperwork. I may be getting my companies policy and the law mixed up, but if you have worked for them for one year, it can definitely save your job, and allow you the time that you need to help Myra.

It is so hard, but know that you are doing the best that you can, and that is definitely the best thing that you can do for Myra.

I am Jacky, mommy to Joslyn Olivia (April 2008) and Katelyn Isabel (November 2009).
Joslyn was dx'ed with Silent Reflux with breath apnea at 5 days old. VERY SCARY!
Katelyn is a spitter reflux baby. Started at 3 days old as well. (Both were/are breast fed.. symptoms came on when my milk came in).
Joslyn has been reflux free since she was 12 months (suffered poor weight gain for a few months) and Katelyn is now on Zantac... waiting to see if it works.
we had a horrible experience with reglan........

Donnessa, mom to Halley born 3/10/07
Reflux (mostly) resolved at 14 months
and Addison born 8/17/09. Currently exclusively bf and on 7.5mg Prevacid
Ok, I'm not a doctor, but if it were Halley, I would put her back on the Nutramigen if she was doing well on it. The proteins are broken down more than the AR formula. If you want the formula thickened, you can always use a thickener like Simply Thick. What dosage of Zantac did they put her on? I would give it a few more days and if it's still not working, I'd give the GI a call and see if you can increase the dosage or move to a PPI. From what I understand, Zantac should kick in pretty quickly, so if it's going to work for her, it should start very soon. I agree with putting in for the FMLA - if you don't need it, great, but if you do then you're covered. ((((big hugs))))

Maggie is now 3 years old and reflux free (knock on wood). I still check in some to see how everybody is doing :) Hugs to all!
I agree with Donnessa. I'd go back to the other formula. The ar formula has rice in it and many babies just don't tolerate it. I agree, the side effects of reglan are scary. I'm surprised a doc would put her on reglan before doing the upper GI and other tests. That's just my opinion as a mom though...Hugs! It's def. not easy, but it will get better!

Mom to Ian, 3/1/07
Used Zantac - 1.0 ml twice a day
Weaned at 1 year
Back on Zantac at 15 months
We tried the AR formula too, and rice really upset Ian's tummy. We used Gentlease and it worked out great....
