Aubrey sick again
You have got to be kidding me. Both kids are snotty again and she is horrible. We just finished the ab's 2 wks ago. I hope this goes away in a week. I called ds asthma doc and we are to start neb trtmnts on him and not take him to soccer practice tonight. He is going to be so upset. I am sick of the kids being sick. When we go see Dr. WHitney at the end of the month I am going to ask about immune testing. Just seems she gets sick WAY more than other kids in her class...This has not been a good week.

For my girls after they are 3 we use the Zicam gel nose swabs and 90% of the time it gets rid of their cold within 3 days. I also give them the chewable Echinacea vitamins and those help. With Abby she just got a cold about 1wk ago and I started putting Rhino Echinacea drops in her sippy right away. Boy did that make a difference! Her cold wasn't that bad at all she didn't wake up at night or wake in the morning with a crusty nose. Since she is 2.5 I gave her half the dose (half a dropper twice per day instead of a full one twice per day.) I also santize their toothbrushes at least once per week. I got an Oral B one that uses UV light. And I just got them these toothbrush holders that helps keep the bacteria out (www.myflipperusa.com) Hope they are feeling better soon!

Mary & Nicholas 7-17-03 (non-refluxer)allergies, asthma on Singulair and Flovent & Aidan 1-28-07(my refluxer)Nissen Fundoplication on June 20, 2008, FTT, MSPI, DGE, ear tubes, allergies and severe GERD now currently taking just Prevacid and drinking Elecare Vanilla 1+.
I'm so sorry the kids are sick again. It is the worst when they are both sick. I wanted to post on your post yesterday about just feeling like you are missing something with Aubrey and I wanted to say that I constantly feel that way with Aidan and I am not sure what to do about it either. We are going to scope him again in November as a post-op follow-up so I am hoping this provides me some peace. I hope you get some rest soon. Nick's pulmo did immune system testing this year because his asthma is so severe and I thought for sure it would come back abnormal because he was like Aubrey and always sick but it came back completely normal so I think some kids are just more prone to viruses then others. I hope Brandon doesn't get too upset about the soccer practice. So far we haven't had to miss any but I had to whip out his inhaler one night at practice because he went into a coughing rage and couldn't stop. His poor coach thought he should call 911 it was so bad. Hang in there! I hope the GI appt is helpful.

Julie - I have three children. My youngest Katie is my refluxer. My first Ben was very colicy and is ADHD. My middle Jakob is pretty easy going. Katie had it bad as a baby no sleep for two years. She was on Nutramagin, Prevacid and Zantac. Thought we were through it but after age three it came back big time. After her scope she was put on Prevacid 45mg a day and mylanta as needed. Scope was in Sept. Showed damage in stomach and espophogus. It took about 7 months of medication and Reflux diet for her to start feeling better.
I am sorry both kids are sick. I hate knowing that the sick season is starting. It is a whole different meaning for us reflux moms. I hope they feel better soon.

I'm so sorry the kids aren't feeling well... AGAIN! My dd was like this until about 2.5-3. She caught every bug and it was really hard with having daycare and the junk they bring in. In 3 mons she had pink eye 2 times. But now (knock on Wood) she had built up her immunities and last winter she was rarely sick. Hopefully Aubrey will build up her immunities and when she gets to higher grades in school she will have perfect atten.

Melissa - Mommy to Sebastian, born 9/28/07 @ 7 lbs 7 oz and 20.75 in. At docs at 12 months: 27 pounds and 32 in! Good grief! GERD - currently on Prevacid suspension (liquid equivalent of 45 mg a day). Allergic to dairy, soy, eggs, wheat, all treenuts, peanuts, fish, shellfish, peas, sesame, bananas, barley, coconut, dust, dust mite, dog, cat, latex. Seasonal allergies. Oral Allergy Syndrome (OAS). Neocate only - no solids - until further notice (drinks and loves water, too). Loves his doggie, our rescued Treeing Walker Coonhound, Louise, even though he is allergic to her. Louise will make your doctor a homemade pie if you would like her to. PHOTO: We couldn't do a cake on Sebastian's birthday, but that didn't stop him from tossing around the contents of a big bowl of popcorn! He now tries to eat it when we play with popcorn, so no more of that game.... :(
Hi Jen...oh no! Sick AGAIN?? That sucks. My niece was like this for the first few years (she is six now), but now she is pretty much just like all the other kids. Maybe that is what is going on with Aubrey - she'll get everything now (sucks)m but she will be healthy as a horse when she gets to school. SO sorry

Sorry Jen. It really does seem like she gets sick a lot. It couldn't hurt to check out immunity issues. I probably would too.

Love the pic and caption :)

GERD since 4 weeks old
Colic until 13 weeks old
Delayed Gastric Emptying
MSPI
Surgery for Tubes and Adenoidectomy at 14 months old
Anemic since 9 month check
Febrile Seizures
Speech Therapy
MEDS: Zyrtec, Nasonex, Xopenex,
Vitamins with iron, and back on Prevacid as of 12/2008
We had the same problem with Donnie. Every time we turned around he was sick again. He was on a different antibiotic every couple of weeks. We actually took him in for his first URI of the fall season a couple of weeks back and I was floored because it had been 4 months since his last antibiotic. I think maybe his immune system was weak and just had to mature, I don't know, but he seems to be coming around now that he is almost 3 years old. Hope she gets well soon! -Liz
