Our 1 year old daughter has silent reflux, hypotonia as well as benign external hydrocephalus. We are currently weaning onto whole milk (we'll see if it works) and she is also on Prevacid 15mg per day.
What do you do when.....
Your PT tells you that your child has "all the right tools" but that he isn't sure why she is not choosing to use them? :( I hope he doesn't "drop" us. We had a rough therapy session today. She cried the whole time. And before at the hospital I felt the therapist was really over doing it but this time it was plainly just Keira getting worked up and frustrated. My heart goes out to her. The therapist says she can push her self around but she isn't grasping the whole pulling concept to do a combat crawl. She can do a backwards type crawl but that's pushing not pulling. I wish he'd seen her in the very beginning so he could see just how far she's come. He's very nice, don't get me wrong but I just get so tired of hearing that first line- WTH am I suppose to do?!? :( I'm always kinda worried that they might just give up on us. I'm sorry to be so negative this week it's just been beyond hard lately.

Maggie is now 3 years old and reflux free (knock on wood). I still check in some to see how everybody is doing :) Hugs to all!
Ok, as I read that I thought "what is that supposed to mean"?! The only possible good explanation I can think of is he's saying "she has the potential, she just hasn't figured out how to do it yet". I think it was SUPPOSED to be reassuring. It just wasn't-probably due to the lack of verbal skills most men have ;)

My previous drivers license was also stolen. The new one has extra security features on it.
LOL! Isn't that the truth. They shouldn't give up on her. This is their specialty. Hang in there. Voicing here is a good thing not negative. U need ears that understand.

Hugs, and have a good day.

Renee, mother to Nicholas, born 4/18/08 with silent reflux, moderate laryngomalacia, Sandifer's Syndrome& suspected MSPI. On Neocate, Simply Thick and Prevacid. Also mother to Nathan, born 12/06/06, who had mild reflux the first few months.
Don't let them give up on her-and if for some reason he tries to, go to someone else!!! I'm sure he's not the only PT that can help her. It's true, men are not great communicators (most anyway). Maybe he is frustrated with himself as he can't seem to get her to do what he wants her to be able to do. Don't give up on her and don't let him either!!
Check with your
doctor first!
