Zack born 09/28/07 @ 31 weeks. Dx silent reflux @ 6 mo. Now not so silent. Switched to Elecare @ 9 mo. On Prevacid 15mg 1x daily. Looking to stop the puke and gain some lbs.
Puke stopped about 24 months and he's learning to eat...very slowly.
Still on prevacid and periactin.
Crappy night
Z was very refluxy yesterday...he puked a few times, but he took in plenty, so at least I didn't have to stress about dehydration...he refused to go to wasn't until he threw up in bed that I realized that laying on his back (on a wedge) was still bothering him, so I brought him out to the car seat/ stroller adn rocked him to sleep...I put him in the swing later, but he was fussy all sleep for mom! I finally gave him his Prevacid at 5 and he fell asleep in his crib until 6 where I fed him. He took in 5 oz, puked up about 1, took in 3 more, puked about 1, then puked more on the changing table (on his back again)...a little later he drank 4 more and puked a LOT..probably at least 2 if not more. Poor kid is miserable...I can hear it going up and down up and down...I just want to take it all away. I'll have the damn reflux. I could stand to drop a couple lbs. It's just not fair. Anyway, he's having his blood and urine tests today to rule out anything big as a reason he isn 't growing too well. Say a little prayer for the Z man. :)

I am Jacky, mommy to Joslyn Olivia (April 2008) and Katelyn Isabel (November 2009).
Joslyn was dx'ed with Silent Reflux with breath apnea at 5 days old. VERY SCARY!
Katelyn is a spitter reflux baby. Started at 3 days old as well. (Both were/are breast fed.. symptoms came on when my milk came in).
Joslyn has been reflux free since she was 12 months (suffered poor weight gain for a few months) and Katelyn is now on Zantac... waiting to see if it works.
poor fella! That sounds like a rough night for both of you! I agree i would love to take the pain away too! Poor baby. Hope the blood tests come back good. We will be thinking and praying for him. Mr. big Blue eyes!

Lost my 33 yr old most physical fit husband 1 year ago, I miss him and his help! Feels so shitty and unfair. My baby getting better is the only thing that would bring my sanity back.
My heart goes out to you and all other mom's, it is hard for sure, I'm with ya! Night time is the worst for us too. We are still unofficially undiagnosed and it sucks. You are not alone...

My name is being used fraudently to ill represent me. Please be cautious of any information you receive with my name. including,,, anything from anyone claiming to be Engi Nowaira online. Otherwise, I will be representing myself in person so that everyone will have opportunity to identify me in person.
My previous drivers license was also stolen. The new one has extra security features on it.
I hope today is a much better day and that tonight u both get rest. Lack of sleep doesn't help matters, I know.

I totally understand where u r coming from when u say u will take the reflux to relieve him. It is heartbreaking to stand by and watch our little one's suffer and not be able to do anything about it.

There are many days I talk to God and ask what am I missing. I feel I am a mom and I should be able to take all this pain away.

But then I remember that maybe I cannot take the pain away, but I can continue to fight for Meggy's health and stand by her side no matter what happens.

I say all of this to say: U r a great mom and it is amazing that you just keep going and going and fighting for your little one.

\ Sending good thoughts and hugs your way.

ethan's mom
Meridith, mom to Ethan born 4/23/08. Ethan was diagnosed with reflux at about 1 month. He has been on Zantac (unsuccessful) and Prevacid. He is currently taking 7.5 mg of Prevacid 2x per day, with good results. We also suspect MPI, though this hasn't been confirmed by a doctor yet.
Ethan is mostly breastfed, though we are doing one bottle of soy formula each day. We also do some homeade "solids' including, so far pears, avocado, sweet potato, and peaches.
poor little guy, and poor tired mommy. You guys are in my prayers.

Julie - I have three children. My youngest Katie is my refluxer. My first Ben was very colicy and is ADHD. My middle Jakob is pretty easy going. Katie had it bad as a baby no sleep for two years. She was on Nutramagin, Prevacid and Zantac. Thought we were through it but after age three it came back big time. After her scope she was put on Prevacid 45mg a day and mylanta as needed. Scope was in Sept. Showed damage in stomach and espophogus. It took about 7 months of medication and Reflux diet for her to start feeling better.
I remember those nights so well. Just know that it does get better. At some point you will be sleeping again.
