Is it the teething monster?/please pray
Something set Meggy's off and bad. She refused food going on the 4th day in a row. Her intake of fluids is less than 15 ounces a day.

Today several times she would lead me to the table and pat her belly. We would go to the fridge and pick out something together, but then we sit down and try to eat and she just cries and whines and hardly takes more than 2 bites. It is like she is starving and wants to eat, but it just hurts to much.

This has happened 15 times already. She is taking a nap today but is so fitful even in her sleep she fell out of her toddler bed 5 times already.

Any suggestions, ideas? GI said not to worry unless she gets dehydrated, but it is the pain she is in that bothers me.

Medication wise, she has had tylenol, carafate, Levsin, (can't have Motrin) all at the maximum dosage the last 4 days.

We have only had 2 good hours this whole day. (Zantac and PPI's Make her worse.)

Also, I don't know how to rotate the videos in photobucket, that is why they are always sideways.

I don't know. I see her chewing on her fingers in the back of her mouth so maybe some is teething. Have you tried offering her maybe 2 or 3 things and then letting her choose what she wants to eat? We do that with Aubrey sometimes. Maybe go for foods w/ different textures as well. I feel so bad for you and for all you go through. You are such a great mom and trying to get answers. Kuddos to you!!! She is a doll btw.

ethan's mom
Meridith, mom to Ethan born 4/23/08. Ethan was diagnosed with reflux at about 1 month. He has been on Zantac (unsuccessful) and Prevacid. He is currently taking 7.5 mg of Prevacid 2x per day, with good results. We also suspect MPI, though this hasn't been confirmed by a doctor yet.
Ethan is mostly breastfed, though we are doing one bottle of soy formula each day. We also do some homeade "solids' including, so far pears, avocado, sweet potato, and peaches.

I'm sorry that she is having a rough time. She is soo cute, dancing around.

I know that she uses some words, but have you thought of trying a few sign language signs to help her tell you. I read a book on this recently, and they had taught lo's to use the sign for pain in front of wherever was bothering them. You'd have to teach it to her, which could take a while. Probably wouldn't help this time, but in the future. Of course she could have the words to tell you exactly soon anyway. Just a thought.

I used to do a lot of sign language with Meggy and she loved it until she kept trying to sign to her daddy and he wouldn't pay attention. She got so frustrated she quit signing even to me.

I tried to get him interested but he wouldn't even try.

I generally do a few things, I let Meggy pick her own food from the fridge and then bring 2 extras over. In this instance, she had her gummy vitamins, eggs, and a banana. She was just hurting to much to be interested.

Thanks for all the support. I am just looking for any ideas I can find to help her.

Elyse gets like this every so often...sometimes for a day and sometimes for a week. We do the same things....let her pick her own food, add in some other options...she will do the same thing, even though she picks it out she will then refuse, cry and tantrum and shake her head. Wow, she is already in a toddler bed??!! We would never sleep if Elyse was in one! If you give her the fork herself will she do anything with it? With Elyse it is *sometimes* an independence thing but I know that there is a lot more going on with meggy with her food allergies...

OMG! She is so adorable dancing around!

Now on to the issue on hand I would say teething because of that little finger making it's way in her mouth or have you considered maybe the possibility of sinus infection, sinus irritation, allergies, the fall is really bad for me. I say this because I seen her rubbing her nose then going for her ears.

Sometimes if my allergies are really bad I get a terrible itch in my nose and throat it will sometimes feel like I have something poking my ears even on really bad days i get terrible headaches.

Sinus attacks can make you feel pretty crumby. Does she like carrots? Can she have them? I would wash them real good and peel them and put them in baggies and into the freezer and gave them to my kids while teething. Maybe this will help numb up and or break any little spuds making their way up through her gums. If anything numb her up enough to intake some food.

Good luck hope she gets better soon!

I hadn't really considered teething plus allergies. That makes a whole lot of sense. She rubs her eyes so raw sometimes and she has been picking at her left ear a lot lately.

I guess u combine that along with teething and anyone would feel miserable. I get that itch in my throat too and it is annoying.

Thanks again everyone. You always help me to see the world from every possible angle.

Check with your
doctor first!
