Something just isn't right
I guess it is that mommy's instinct but I just feel something still isn't right with Aubrey. I can't explain it I just don't know. We go to her GI on the 30th and I will talk to the doc and see what she thinks. It just seems her system is still so sensitive and she gets diahrrea from any variation in her diet, but I never know what the trigger will be. I do know she still can not tolerate things like hot dogs or processed foods. I hate this feeling and I have had it for a while. I can't wait for her appt so I can see what the GI wants to do. I am affraid it will involve putting her under and scoping but if we can find the problem I guess that is what we need to do. Sorry to ramble my mind has just been racing!

Forgot to add that her diapers have been a wierd color (not sure if it is blood or not) like a maroon color. Maybe like being on omnicef and the odor is horrific. They aren't runny now but they smell like something burning. Weird. Any thoughts or ideas?

Lorenzo b.4/25/07 1 week in NICU w/ aspirate pneumonia from a reflux episode; diagnosed GERD at 9weeks; Used Zantac for 5months. Currently using Chinese Medicine and Craniosacral Therapy. GERD, Obstructive Sleep Apnea, Sensory Processing Disorder. Ask me about breastfeeding a refluxer! Pic: day 5 in the NICU.
Hmm...I've got nothing for yo on the poop, but I definitely think you need to honor your mommy instincts, and if you feel like something is wrong, do what you need to do to find out what it is. So many times we minimize our instincts, especially when we are told by physicians that nothing 'they can think of' is wrong, but it seems like all too often, just because they couldn't think of what it might be, does not mean that it isn't something that needs to be detected...

ethan's mom
Meridith, mom to Ethan born 4/23/08. Ethan was diagnosed with reflux at about 1 month. He has been on Zantac (unsuccessful) and Prevacid. He is currently taking 7.5 mg of Prevacid 2x per day, with good results. We also suspect MPI, though this hasn't been confirmed by a doctor yet.
Ethan is mostly breastfed, though we are doing one bottle of soy formula each day. We also do some homeade "solids' including, so far pears, avocado, sweet potato, and peaches.

I agree with trusting your instincts. I'd at least call to check on the poo situation, just to make sure that the doc doesn't think it could be a sign of something.

BTW, I think Aubrey's pic is soo cute.

Maggie is now 3 years old and reflux free (knock on wood). I still check in some to see how everybody is doing :) Hugs to all!
You know I'm no expert. I just thought of a little boy in mmo. He has a blood disorder of some sort and his mom said he can't have any processed meats and other things that she didn't list. Maybe way off, I just thought of it while reading your post. Hugs Jen!

My previous drivers license was also stolen. The new one has extra security features on it.
That sounds different. Has anyone ever done PH testing or fat studies on her stools? We did some extra metabolic testing through pediatrix newborn screening.
