i'm pulling my hair out again. my son apparantely only wants for his dad-not me. i've been listening to the incessant screaming for 45 minutes now. for 3 days while i was gone he napped for 2 or 2.5 hours in the morning and then again 1.5 or 2 hours in the afternoon for his dad. for two days now he's napped for me from 9-1030 and refused to nap in the afternoon. what do you think? should i go for the one nap? i just HATE this. is it working for you? what time??? HELP!!!

Maggie is now 3 years old and reflux free (knock on wood). I still check in some to see how everybody is doing :) Hugs to all!
Hey, I'm not the right Melissa but I thought I'd share...hope that's ok. I can't remember exactly when Mags cut down to one nap, but I'm pretty sure it was around a year. I'd say if he's functioning and not too cranky with one nap, then it's ok. It seems like he would need more than 1 1/2 hrs though.

Jessica, Mommy to Jedd, severe reflux, severe food and oral aversions, Finally G tube free!!! VSD repair 4-24-07 (open heart surgery), hypospadias, repaired 3 times and Ear tubes Visit Jedd at his CB site: www.caringbridge.org/visit/jedd
That is the hardest time!!!!! Going from 2 naps to one, Jedd was an absolute horror!!!! It was aroudn the one year mark as well. It took me aobut 2-3 month sto get the kinks worked out. He still takes a 2-2.5 hour nap per day and he is almost 2. He also sleeps at night from 8:30 to 7:00a.m.

Melissa - Mommy to Sebastian, born 9/28/07 @ 7 lbs 7 oz and 20.75 in. At docs at 12 months: 27 pounds and 32 in! Good grief! GERD - currently on Prevacid suspension (liquid equivalent of 45 mg a day). Allergic to dairy, soy, eggs, wheat, all treenuts, peanuts, fish, shellfish, peas, sesame, bananas, barley, coconut, dust, dust mite, dog, cat, latex. Seasonal allergies. Oral Allergy Syndrome (OAS). Neocate only - no solids - until further notice (drinks and loves water, too). Loves his doggie, our rescued Treeing Walker Coonhound, Louise, even though he is allergic to her. Louise will make your doctor a homemade pie if you would like her to. PHOTO: We couldn't do a cake on Sebastian's birthday, but that didn't stop him from tossing around the contents of a big bowl of popcorn! He now tries to eat it when we play with popcorn, so no more of that game.... :(
Well, as you know, I feel your pain! Sebastian was pulling this crap for months and finally I was like, "Forget this. You're getitng one nap." I didn't do any phasing out or anything. I just started keeping him up through his morning nap by going, going, going. We play upstairs in the morning while my husband swiffers and vacuums downstairs, and then they play downstairs while I walk the dog. Then we all do something like go to the grocery store, go for a run, go to Tagrte, ANYTHING. We have found that since he gets up at 6 a.m., he can't last much past 10:30 or 11...usually 11. SO I take him up around 10:45 and change his diaper, then feed him. He still has a cold (two weeks now), so I turn on the vaporizer. He sometimes naps for 2 hours and 20 minutes - which is ridiculous for us because he NEVER napped more than 1.25 hours when he was on two naps. EVER. This didn't start, though, until I stopped going to him last week at night except to feed him once in the middle of the night. That DRASTICALLY improved his night sleep, so I think it improved his napping. HOwever, I got ahead of myself and tried to move his bed time later like an idiot (even though you're not supposed to when they switch to one nap), and now he is waking up at the 30 min mark during every nap. I rock him back to sleep because there is no way in hell he is taking one 30 min nap ALL day. The last two nights, he has fallen asleep on the bottle (and only had 3 oz), so tomorrow, we go back to the 6 pm bedtime.

I think you should try the one-nap-a-day thing for a week. See how it goes. It'll probably suck at first, but for us, it really didn't! And we had barely started when he got his cold.

I rock him to sleep for naps because past experience tells me he will cry through the entire nap, no matter how tired he is.

He hasn't favored his dad yet, so I can't add anything there....but it is probably because your hiusband got tough with him and he wants to stay awake with you!

Hope this helps a little, Kelly!
