MSPI question
Real quick question......Donnie has always had diarrhea/stomach pain with milk and most recently especially soy. I have been avoiding soy because that has been the worst on his stomach but I decided to try him on a little bit of milk yesterday. I gave him about 4 ounces of 2% milk with a snack. To my suprise he didn't have any stomach pains or diarrhea today. Do you think that maybe he is tolerating milk better now and it is just a soy issue or maybe just a fluke? I think I will try a bit more milk and see how it goes. -Liz

Jessica, Mommy to Jedd, severe reflux, severe food and oral aversions, Finally G tube free!!! VSD repair 4-24-07 (open heart surgery), hypospadias, repaired 3 times and Ear tubes Visit Jedd at his CB site: www.caringbridge.org/visit/jedd
We don't deal with a MSPI here but I would venture to say that I would try again. Did you try whole milk last time and then the 2% this time??? Maybe that's why.....just trying to figure it out with ya!!!! LOL

Maggie is now 3 years old and reflux free (knock on wood). I still check in some to see how everybody is doing :) Hugs to all!
When I weaned Mags from her soy formula to cow's milk (following the advice from others here), I did basically that. I used 2%, not whole milk. If I were you, I'd give him the 4oz for maybe a week and see how he tolerates it. If that goes ok, then give him a whole cup, and so on. Good luck!

Donnessa, mom to Halley born 3/10/07
Reflux (mostly) resolved at 14 months
and Addison born 8/17/09. Currently exclusively bf and on 7.5mg Prevacid
I agree with the pps - I'd try it again. Halley isn't able to tolerate whole milk, but does fine on 2%. I personally can't even do 2% - I can only tolerate skim. Hopefully he's outgrowing his intolerance!!

Thanks! We have done just about every kind of milk even soy and he has never tolerated any of it. I just ventured out and tried him on the 2% yesterday and so far so good. I tried him on some more this evening but he only drank about an ounce or 2 of it but usually just a sip will cause problems so we will see. I soooo hope he is outgrowing the MSPI that would be wonderful. -Liz

Melissa - Mommy to Sebastian, born 9/28/07 @ 7 lbs 7 oz and 20.75 in. At docs at 12 months: 27 pounds and 32 in! Good grief! GERD - currently on Prevacid suspension (liquid equivalent of 45 mg a day). Allergic to dairy, soy, eggs, wheat, all treenuts, peanuts, fish, shellfish, peas, sesame, bananas, barley, coconut, dust, dust mite, dog, cat, latex. Seasonal allergies. Oral Allergy Syndrome (OAS). Neocate only - no solids - until further notice (drinks and loves water, too). Loves his doggie, our rescued Treeing Walker Coonhound, Louise, even though he is allergic to her. Louise will make your doctor a homemade pie if you would like her to. PHOTO: We couldn't do a cake on Sebastian's birthday, but that didn't stop him from tossing around the contents of a big bowl of popcorn! He now tries to eat it when we play with popcorn, so no more of that game.... :(
It could be a soy issue - I know Elyse has issues with soy...myabe Sharon will chime in on this one. And whole milk is like drinking glue. I can imagine it is hard on little kids' bellies...
Check with your
doctor first!
